A Labor Day Win at Ripken for the 13U Cyclones
September 2, 2014
The 13u Cyclones went 4-2 battling teams from DE, MD, NJ and NY to win the Championship at the Labor Day Classic Tournament at Ripken Aberdeen. The Cyclones (4 seed), knocked off the number 1 seed in the semi-final game and then defeated the number 3 seed East Coast Jays 8-2 in the championship. It was a great effort by everyone on the team. Halloween Wood Bat Tournament Registration Now Open

The 5th annual Halloween Wood Bat Tournament will be held on October 17-19 for the following age groups: 10U, 11/12U, 13/14U. This tournament sells out every year so register now to confirm your spot. Go to the registration page more more information.

Maryland State Junior Legion Championships

On July 11th-13th, Sykesville played in and hosted the Maryland State Junior Legion Championships. After an 11 inning win in the opening round, our boys fell to a very tough Williamsport team in the semi's to finish 3rd in the entire state. Our Junior team (17U) also won their division and will graduate several up and coming players to the Sr. Legion team for the spring 2015 season. Congratulations to coach Todd Fletcher and his team on a great inaugural season.

12U Storm Continue Success in Cooperstown

After taking an impressive 2nd place in the Around the Horn competition, Coach Russell Smith and our 12U Storm continue the winning tradition by seeding 40th (out of 104 teams) in the Cooperstown Dreams Park National 12U tournament. The Storm went 4-2 in pool play while beating teams from across the country. Please join us in wishing them good luck as they enter the championship bracket tomorrow!

For the third straight year, Sykesville has had a team seed above 32 (out of 104) at the Cooperstown Dreams Park national 12u tournament. Chris Poe and his team seeded 18th and took their success all the way to the sweet 16 as they lost a very tough game to one of the top teams in the country. Congratulations team on a great week of baseball.
13U Cyclones Win Another....!

||The 13U Cyclones just keep on winning! This time it was the Severn Schools Out Tournament. They went 4 - 0, beating the Frederick Rangers in the Championship game on Sunday. Congratulations on a fantastic season guys!

|In addition to finishing their season 20-7, the 13U Sykesville Storm went 5-0 in the Mid-Atlantic Baseball Association SW Division 2 end of season tournament. On June 22nd, 13U Storm defeated a talented LOUYAA Thunder team in the championship game. Congratulations to our Sykesville Post 223 Junior American Legion (17U) team as the defeated Mount Airy to clinch their division in the Potomac junior legion league. Big Wins for Sykesville at 12U and 13U
The 13U Cyclones (right) won the MABA Championship on Sunday besting some of the top teams in the region. Down to only 9 players after injuries, and after losing in the first round, the Cyclones won 5 straight including 3 in extra innings. Savage was defeated in the semi finals and the Cyclones finished off HCYP 15-6 in the Championship game. Congrats to Coach Dwayne and the entire team.
Our 12U Cyclones (below) continued their winning streak and took second place in the USSSA Germantown Fathers' Day Tournament. Coach Chris Poe and the Cyclones head to Cooperstown next week to play in a National tournament against over 100 teams from around the country.
Continued Success for our 12U Cyclones
Another great weekend for our 12U Cyclones as they continue to rack up tournament success. They were just one run short in the finals and placed second in a very talented field in the Elkridge Stars and Strikes Tournament. After a first round loss and seeding 10th... great pitching and defense carried them undefeated into the championship. This is a team that won't give up, by example - they sent HCYP home in the quaterfinals after being down 4-1 heading into the last inning. Congratulations guys!

Congratulations to the 12U Cyclones for winning the USSSA Mother's Day Madness tournament in Germantown. This was a pure team effort with every player contributing at the plate and in the field. While they fell behind in each game, they showed the fortitude to come back and keep winning until the USSSA rings were on their fingers.

Sykesville Baseball Travel Program 2014
For the 2014 season, Sykesville Travel Baseball will field 16 teams from 8U through 19U and American Legion Baseball. At our High School age groups we offer several options for players 14-19 years old including 14U MABA, 16U MABA, 19U MABA, and our Junior and Senior American Legion program. To be eligible for our Legion team you must attend South Carroll, Century, Liberty, Winters Mill, or Westminster High Schools. For information on our Legion program go to American Legion Team Page
Sykesville Travel Baseball
As one of the largest programs in the state, Sykesville Travel Baseball supports 16 teams from the age of 8 all the way to elite college bound athletes in our American Legion program. Our teams play in Mid-Atlantic Baseball (MABA- the largest and most complete travel program in the region), the national American Legion program, as well as tournaments across the east coast in both the spring and fall seasons. Our facilities consist of twenty one top quality baseball fields including five 90’ foot diamonds, and we are further supported by multiple professional training partners and facilities.

- 10 teams won at least 20 games
- 4 teams won 29 or more games
- 5 Tournament Championships
- 18 semi final tournament appearances
- Won 2 MABA Divisions
- 8 teams placed 3rd or higher in their division
- Sent 2 teams to Cooperstown (will also send 2 in 2014)
- Participated in 4 national tournaments
- Hosted 6 tournaments
- None of our coaches or players were ejected from any baseball game throughout the season.
While we are always successful in getting teams into the win column, this is secondary to developing a complete program where our young athletes can flourish in both the
physical and mental aspects of the game. This includes a very strict code of conduct, formal expectations of our players/coaches/parents,
providing the highest quality facilities, conducting unified formal tryouts, having complete transparency across all activities, and tight
integration with our community organizations and local businesses.
Memorial Day Baseball Success
Our teams had another successful weekend playing across the state as well as hosting the 5th annual Memorial Day Wooden Bat Classic. Congratulations to our 10U Cyclones in taking 2nd place in the Stars and Strikes Tournament
and to the 13U Cyclones for a 2nd place finish at the Olney Walk the Plank Tournament.

Tournament Dates Announced
Sykesville Baseball will host it's 4th Annual Halloween Wood Bat Tournament on October 18th - 20th. Details to be annouced shortly but interested teams should email firstname.lastname@example.org to pre-register.
Sykesville Baseball will be hosting one of the largest destination tournaments in Maryland on July 3rd through 6th of 2014. We will feature over 125 teams, a large commercial fireworks display on the 4th, team parade, skills competitions, and a range of other activities. All games will be played on 22 fields all local to the event. Age groups and additional details to be annouced shortly but interested teams should email email@example.com .

Congratulations to the 11U Cyclones on taking top seed at the Longhorn Bracket and a runner-up trophy last night. The Cyclones dominated top regional competition all weekend long and played hard into the late hours of Sunday night to bring home more hardware
13U Cyclones win their bracket to bring home another championship trophy. The 13U Cyclones won out on Sunday in the bronze bracket against teams from West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia to bring home another trophy for our program. They capped their run with a 17-0 win in the Championship game
11U Cyclones and 12U Storm First Tournament Wins of the Season

Catchers Camp 2013 Complete
Sykesville Travel Baseball is proud to announce another successful catchers camp for our program. For the last 4 years we have provided our catchers an intensive 8 week clinic on all core skills necessary for this anchor position. This year we had 38 catchers from the ages of 8 to 17 years old.
