UPGSL Announces Tryouts for the U12 Sunday Select Team

The UPGSL is pleased to announce the following dates for the U12 Sunday Select tryouts for the 2014-2015 Season.

For those of you who are new to the UPGSL program, we have been participating in the Sunday Select Program since 2008.  The Sunday Select Program is similar to an "All-Star" Team in that it gives the players who are looking for additional playing time at a more competitive level the opportunity to so against our neighboring communities such as RASA (Quakertown), North Penn, Ambler,  just to name a few.

The coaches for the 2014-2015 U12 Select will be John Dibble and Chuck Croak.

Rules for the Sunday Select are as follows:

  • All players must be age appropriate (Age 12 or younger as of 12/31/2014)
  • All players must be registered AND play in the Spring Rec League for their community

Practices for the Select will begin after tryouts beginning outside.  During the Winter Months, practices will be held inside at Marlborough Elementary School.  Its usually 1 practice per week (or every other week) depending on gym availability for our league.

Games will take place on either Saturdays or Sundays (sometimes in a double header format) beginning in April with a Round Robin warm up and continuing until the Year End Select Tournament held by the end of June (generally the 2nd or 3rd weekend of June).

Please note that in addition to your regular Spring Registration Fee -- the Sunday Select Fee is $65.00. This amount covers the additional uniform, tournament fees, umpire fees, and equipment (game balls).

Tryout Dates are:

  • June 29th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Eagle A Field
  • August 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm at the Eagle A Field
  • August 24th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Eagle A Field

Any questions regarding the Sunday Select should be directed to John Cairns at jcc9574@comcast.net or John Dibble at ej9200@yahoo.com.

UPGSL Celebrates Halloween in the Valley

September 20, 2013

Witches and Ghosts

and

Softball Players too...

all celebrated Halloween in the Upper Perkiomen Valley

on a cool Sunday evening in October

On a cool October 20th, the UPGSL helped the Upper Perkiomen Valley celebrate the Fall Season with its participation in the Annual Halloween Parade.

Parents and Players, some dressed to scare, walked the parade route from Red Hill to East Greenville tossing goodies to friends, family, neighbors, and some lucky parade-goers.

A great big "thank you" to Larry and Katie Bearn for getting our float ready to roll, to Ralph Quinn and Kutztown Auto for allowing us to use their pickup to pull us the float, and to all of the parents and "Scream" team who walked the route, keeping our youngsters safe and sound.  A huge thank you must also go out to Liz Herman and everyone on the Parade Committee who took the time to organize this amazing community event.

Check out the photos below and in the "Fall Photo Album"
