VAGSA Continues!

The 2017 softball season is now history and already, plans are underway for the 2018 season.  The Verona Area Girls Softball Association (VAGSA) is a hometown opportunity for girls of all ages to learn and refine their softball skills while building an appreciation for the game and nurturing friendships.  We remain committed to these core principles now and into the future.

VAGSA is your local connection to grow your skills, and play at different skill levels (recreation to competitive) which encourage improvement and challenge a player’s ability and understanding of softball.  In the summer, we offer weeknight leagues and practices for all VAGSA teams. In addition, VAGSA supports and encourages its players to participate in the Instructional Softball Program that is held during the day in cooperation with the Verona Recreation Department.  For high school players, we offer Fall Ball.  Next spring, we will hold our traditional warm-up clinic and skill assessments.

We are currently in the process of exploring options for winter workouts so players can drill on defensive plays and practice batting.  Stay tuned for future updates on this great opportunity for players to work on their softball skills during the off-season.

As a volunteer-based organization, there are always opportunities to serve, lead, or administer VAGSA events, Coach a team, and be an advocate for this program in our community.  To learn more about volunteer opportunities or to explore how you can share your gifts and talents, please contact Chrissy King, Director of Operations/Volunteers, at  Current volunteer opportunities available at this time include:

·         Equipment Manager

·         Web site master

·         Umpire Manager.

Thank you for being a part of our 2017 program.  We look forward to the 2018 season as we fulfill our mission to facilitate softball within our community and help young ladies of all ages enhance their love for this sport.  Play Ball!!

Thank you to all the players, coaches, and parents for making our annual Culver's fundraiser a successful evening for the VAGSA organization! Thanks to Culver's for hosting and for those families and friends who attended. We had a very busy evening!

Congratulations to the 14U Cougars team for placing 1st in the New Berlin tournament on June 11!

On May 13 in Appleton, the 12U Cougars won five straight games to play in the championship game under the lights. They lost to a very good Slinger team, but ended the tourney with some hardware! Congratulations, Ladies!
