CONGRATULATIONS to Jeff Miller, former York Township pitching ace, on his selection to the Susquehanna Baseball League "Hall of Fame" Class of 2016!
All of us on the York Township Baseball Club are very proud of you and of your incredible pitching accomplishments. And, those of us who had the honor to have played with you, we all are equally honored to have been your teammate. You greatly deserve this honor through your commitment, passion, and performance during your stellar pitching career.
Welcome to the club, Jeff, and to joining all of the other York Township HOF members. We all are looking forward to being there for your induction at the league banquet in February. Thank you to the league and to those who nominated and voted for Jeff. You have made an excellent selection.

LONGTIME YORK TOWNSHIP FAN AND FRIEND PASSES: Roy E. Deardorff, 90, passed away peacefully at the Senior Commons at Powder Mill on Monday, July 27, 2015. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Ethel (Weigle) Deardorff, until her passing in 2014. Mr. Deardorff was born in Spry on March 20, 1925. He was the son of the late Morris and Barbara (Landis) Deardorff. Roy attended York High and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. Following the war he served aboard the USS Tarawa. He worked for more than 31 years as an inspector for Motor Freight Express. Following his employment with Motor Freight Express, he worked part-time for Wolfgang Candy, York Township Maintenance, and Earl Anderson Plumbing. Roy was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry and Dallastown American Legion Post 605. He was an active member of York Township Fire Station #19 in the 60s. Roy was passionate about baseball and was an avid fan of the York Township teams. He is survived by his nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Deardorff. A funeral service to honor Roy's life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, July 31,2015, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 West Main Street, Dallastown. The Rev. Dr. Ken Loyer will be officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 10:00AM until the start of the service. Interment to follow in Mount Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry, 50 School Street, York, PA 17402.
