PREP LEGION age group includes 6th, 7th & 8th graders, who are too old for Little League (born August 31, 2013 or earlier).  Teams practice weekly, indoors, during February and March.  During April, May and June, the team practices outdoors and plays home games at Zahnd Pony diamond.

Generally the Prep Legion team plays 20-25 games during May, June & July (season ends mid-July).  Most games are within 75 miles of Champaign.  Doubleheaders are played during the week.  Once or twice each month the team plays in tournaments or weekend doubleheaders.

Fees for 2026 are $370.  $185 is due at time of Tryouts** and balance is due in February, 2026.

Eligible players include Middle School and Junior High students from Champaign, Urbana, Mahomet-Seymour, St. Joseph-Ogden, Unity, Monticello, Fisher and other areas within approximately 30 miles of Champaign. 

 

JUNIOR LEGION age group includes freshmen, sophomores and juniors in high school born 2009 or later.  Team practices weekly during the season, but cannot practice until a player's team is finished with IHSA competition (normally mid-May for JV and freshmen teams) or (late May for Varsity players).  Team practices and plays home games at Spaulding Park.

Generally the Junior Legion team plays about 30-40 games during May, June and July (season ends late July).  Most games are within 75 miles of Champaign.  The team usually plays in 3 or more tournaments each year and plays approximately 2-3 times per week.  The season ends with an American Legion Tournament, which can lead to an American Legion State Championship Tournament.

Fees for 2026 are $470.  $235 is due at time of Tryouts** and balance is due in February, 2026.

Eligible players include High School players from Champaign, Urbana, Mahomet-Seymour, St Joseph-Ogden, Unity, Monticello, Fisher and other areas within approximately 40 miles of Champaign.

 

SENIOR LEGION age group includes high school and college players born 2007 or later.  Team practices weekly during the season, but cannot practice until a player's team is eliminated from the IHSA tournament (normally late-May).  Team practices at Wabash Park in Rantoul.  Home games are played at Wabash Park or Family Sports Complex. 

Generally the Senior Legion team plays about 30-40 games during May, June and July (season normally ends late-July or early-August).  Most games are within 75 miles of Rantoul, but the team plays at least one out-of-area tournament.  The team usually plays in 3 or more tournaments each year and plays approximately 2-4 times per week.  The season ends with an American Legion Tournament which can lead to the American Legion World Series in North Carolina.

Fees for 2026 are $400.  $200 is due at time of Tryouts** and balance is due in March, 2026.

Eligible players include High School and college players from approximately 20 miles East of Rantoul and approximately 50 miles of Rantoul in all other directions

 

 

**  If a player is cut at the Tryouts, the Tryout Deposit will be refunded.  If a player is selected at the Tryouts, his spot is guaranteed on the team for the 2026 season.  As such, if selected, the Tryout Deposit is non-refundable except for a family move of over 60 miles or an illness or injury that would make baseball participation impossible for the summer of 2026.
