Kevin Chui
#2 - OF (profile)
Kevin has never worked within DRS, but as an outsider was invited to join the taxmen upon meeting Jim Chakulski shortly after his better half, Wai Sum Chu, was hired by the Audit Division and began working in the fall of 2005.
Kevin’s prior softball experience is limited to his competing in intramural pick-up games against students ten years his junior at Sacred Heart University, where he teaches. It is because of this daytime job that Kevin has been dubbed “the Professor” by his teammates.
Because of his limited playing experience, Kevin is still picking up some of the finer nuances of the game. In one memorable at bat, he caught heat by the opposition after he laid down a drag bunt and legged out an infield hit. (The play wouldn’t stand – the other side invoked the old playground ‘do-over’ rule and made Kevin pick up his bat and try again.)
By the conclusion of the 2007 season, Kevin had played 13 games - all as an outfielder - batting .565 with 18 runs scored, 14 RBIs, 3 doubles, a triple, and two homeruns. His best game was his first. Against Heavy Metal at Riverside Park, Kevin went 4 for 5, scored three times, and drove in two more on a homerun smacked into the tree branches in deep left field.
