Dave Carter

#17 - 1B (profile)

Dave is the brother of Rit Carter, and in addition to playing alongside Rit on the old Market Street Maulers teams, Dave worked at the agency for several months over the past couple years.

On the old Maulers’ clubs, Dave, who throws and bats left-handed, was a slick-fielding firstbaseman who hit for power. Rit took to calling him “Willie Montanez,” a reference to an obscure major league firstbaseman that would only be known to those who studied baseball cards in their youth during the early-1970s.

Dave made his DRS debut the same night as brother Rit, against the Hartford Advocate in a 2005 game played under the lights at Colt Park in Hartford. Dave played first base, going 3 for 4. Dave returned the next two weeks, and in the pair of games, Dave went 3 for 3 with a pair of homeruns, and 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored and a triple.

In 2006, despite an active schedule that includes umpiring, coaching, and playing hockey, Dave made time to play in another 7 games with the taxmen. Overall, in two years, Dave’s played in 10 games, batting .633 (19-30), with 15 runs and 9 RBIs.

What with his busy schedule, the taxmen know Dave’s playing time is limited. However, in the future he’s expected to stay on with the team as a part-timer, and will be welcome whenever he can find time to don the DRS jersey.
