Marjorie Terry
#3 - C (profile)
Marjorie is one of the charter members of Team inDRStructible, and was one of the most reliable players as the team grew and expanded in its early years.
Over the first decade of the club’s existence, Marjorie played in more games than any other female player, save Peggy Jiantonio. Marjorie has played 114 games as the team’s catcher, far surpassing Sandi Isner, who ranks a distant second at 75 games.
But despite the many games she’s played, Marjorie’s biggest impact on the success of the team may have been her contributions off the field. For years, Marjorie (or her daughter Jamiah or son Marcus) would dutifully travel to East Hartford Park & Recreation each Monday throughout the summer to pick up a field permit. Simply put, the DRS team could never have continued to function season after season without the field permits obtained by Marjorie and her family. Her help obtaining the dozens of field permits has given DRS a place to play, and is greatly appreciated.
Marjorie did not get out to play in 2006, but over the team’s first ten years, had played six full seasons and another four as a part-time player. In 118 career games, Marjorie has 58 base hits, scored 48 runs, and has 23 RBIs. Her best game came in 1998 against arch-nemesis Fighting Plankton from Hell – Marjorie went 3 for 3, knocked in 3 runs, and scored twice.
