Kelly Trainor
#14 - 2B, RF (profile)
Kelly originally played not as a member of Team inDRStructible, but as an opponent.
Prior to the 2003 season, the DRS captain, Jim Chakulski, scheduled a mid-April game against his old college fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. The game was played at E.O. Smith High School, just off the University of Connecticut campus at Storrs. And Kelly, who was just finishing up her freshman year, played as an able outfielder for KKPsi against the DRS team.
As fate would have it, three years later, new agency hire Chrystal Urbani was looking for a roommate at the same time Jim received an email from his old brothers describing how a certain recent grad was working in Hartford and also looking for a roomie. Jim passed along email addresses, and soon, Chrystal and Kelly were sharing an apartment.
With Chrystal already playing with the taxmen, it didn’t take long for Kelly to join the club.
She first played with DRS during the 2006 Cove Cup tourney. In 3 games, she scored 4 runs and had 4 base hits at the dish, and turned a double play while playing second base. The taxmen went on to sweep all three games to win the annual tournament.
Playing only half the season, Kelly played 11 games and was one of the more consistent players on the team over the last two months. The team hopes Kelly, an avid runner, will rejoin the team in the future assuming her road racing schedule doesn’t keep her too busy to show up for games.
