Doug Ramsey

#16 - OF (profile)

Doug has never actually worked for DRS, though many people likely find that hard to believe. For nearly four years, he’s been around the building working as a consultant on the agency’s conversion to the ITAS system.

Doug, along with fellow Accenture consultants Eric Wehger and Ryan Brook, first suited up with DRS in the 2004 season opener when the team was having a tough time drumming up players. Doug went 2 for 2 with a double in the contest, but it wasn’t enough to help DRS, which lost in walk-off fashion to the Alaskan Brothers on the UConn field in West Hartford.

In 2005, Doug was assigned a uniform number and obtained an official team T-shirt. But alas, he would never play in a game due to a demanding schedule that at times, saw his work hours literally go around the clock.

Then in 2006, with a smoother implementation of the ITAS system’s next phase, Doug found time and unexpectedly arrived for a big game against the Fighting Plankton. However, a nasty thunderstorm swept in during the second inning, the game was washed out, and it seemed Doug was destined never to play with DRS again.

Finally, a few weeks later, Doug played the outfield and was a main contributor in a game that actually counted - a hard-fought battle with E Coli Happens. Traveling to East Windsor Park and playing under the lights, the taxmen would lose a last-inning heart breaker, but to no fault of Doug, who had 2 base hits, a double, and a team-best 4 runs batted in.

Doug continues to work in the building, and hopes to stick around long enough to make a few games in the upcoming 2008 season.
