Frank Milardo
#4 - OF (profile)
During the 1996 and 1997 seasons, the first two of the club’s existence, Frank was the important third member of the DRS starting outfield, along with Jim Chakulski and Scott Deslaurier. He was a big contributor in those early years, as he was one of those proverbial ‘five tool’ players who could field, run, throw, and hit for both average and power.
Frank took the game seriously and wasn't happy when things didn’t go the team’s way, which happened from time to time back when DRS struggled to finish above five hundred and suffered its share of losses. At one particular game at Shea Park in East Hartford, a stranger walking by caught a bit of the taxmen’s bumbling efforts in the field in the midst of a huge rally by the opposition. Play halted as the intruder started heckling the DRS defenders, with Frank began jawing right back at him. Frank was not one to back down when sticking up for his teammates.
Frank played 15 of the team’s first 21 games, and a total of 19 games over his two seasons with DRS. Overall, he scored 30 runs, knocked in 29 runs, and had 10 doubles, 4 triples, and a pair of homeruns. In his best game, a 1997 DRS win over E Coli Happens, Frank belted a homerun, scored 5 runs, and had 5 ribbies.
Following the 1997 season, Frank gave up softball after being recruited to play in a competitive soccer league, where he has continued to play to this day.
