Beth Souza
#5 - OF (profile)
As good as the taxmen have been over the years, they could have been even better if Beth had ever been able to play with the club on a regular basis.
An outstanding all-around outfielder, Beth, in just a handful of games, made diving catches, tracked down hard-hit balls with running catches, and gunned down runners on the basepaths. She once made a stellar shoestring catch before hopping back to her feet and firing to double up a baserunner who had strayed too far off second base.
At the plate, Beth had a knack for getting on base and scoring runs. In 11 career games, spanning the 1997 to 2001 seasons, she rapped out 16 base hits, yet somehow managed to score 18 runs.
A supervisor in a small unit who’s been insanely occupied the last four years with the agency’s conversion to the ITAS system, Beth’s been much too busy to play any softball. But with ITAS conversion now nearly complete, who knows, she may be able to be coaxed back out to the softball diamond yet.
