After showing up at games to watch pals Felicia Pitt and Lynne Robinson play for DRS throughout the 1996 season, Susie expressed a desire to be more than just a spectator and joined the team in 1997.

Susie would never take the field on defense for DRS, but agreed to be a part-time designated hitter and pinch hitter. In her only season with the team, Susie played in a total of 8 games and had 13 plate appearances.

In the season-opening win over the Hartford Graduate Center, her first game with the team, Susie stroked a single and scored a run. Then later in the year, Susie helped DRS earn its first-ever victory in the annual Easter Seals Softball Weekend, stroking a base hit and scoring a run.

Though 1997 would be Susie's only stint with the taxmen, she continued to follow and support the team while working at the agency.
