Dave is another of Mike Malone’s friends who was recruited to play for DRS after the taxmen decided to compete in the USSSA Men’s Class E Early Bird Tournament at the Connecticut Sportsplex in April of 2006.

Dave and Mike had played together for years on a competitive team that routinely advanced out of New Haven and Connecticut and onto New England regional post-season tournaments. Dave was purported to be a stellar shortstop, though the taxmen would never get to see him in action at the position. Being one of the quickest players on hand (which isn’t saying much considering the other guys DRS had playing that day), his services were sorely needed in the outfield.

Dave batted leadoff in all three of the taxmen’s games in the Early Bird tourney, and stroked a pair of RBI-singles. In the field, he cleanly caught the few chances that came his way, and nailed a baserunner trying to go first to third on a base hit.
