Ray Ramelli

#55 - LF, C (profile)

Ray is a friend of Mike Malone’s who was recruited to play for DRS when the taxmen competed in the USSSA Men’s Class E Early Bird Tournament at the Connecticut Sportsplex in April of 2006.

Unfortunately, for both Ray and the team, he was injured early in the opening game, and was relegated to playing catcher for the rest of the tourney as it was too painful for him to run at full speed. The taxmen could have used him at full strength, for they would suffer mercy-rule losses in all three of their games.

In one embarrassing contest, the taxmen were shut out by a score of 18-0. It was during this drubbing that Ray quipped the quote of the day: “It says a lot about our team when we don’t even bother to run out a third base coach.”

Other than his friendship with Mike, Ray does have other ties with DRS - his grandfather, Pat Barbado, was one of the agency's deputy commissioners back in the 1980s.
