Harris Reid

#12 - 2B, PH (profile)

Harris is easily the youngest player in team history, and could also very well be the youngest player in league history.

Son of Jon Reid, who first began playing with the taxmen in 2004, eight year-old Harris initially came out to watch pops in action. Then following games, a common sight would see Jon and Harris, along with a few others, taking extended fielding and batting practice, with Harris getting the lion’s share of the swings.

Late in the 2005 season, after being at plenty of games as a spectator, Harris got the chance to enter a game as a pinch hitter in the late innings after the taxmen had opened up a large lead. He hit a hard ground ball that took a funny hop, and just like that, he had his first base hit as a member of the DRS roster. A week later, he got more game action, this time donning his mitt and playing a few innings at second base.

Harris chalked up even more playing time during the subsequent 2006 and 2007 campaigns, playing in 18 games, getting 48 at bats, and playing several innings in the field, including a couple of games in which “Little Man” played the full seven innings.

His best game came against the GHISL "All-Stars" at Charter Oak Park in Manchester. Harris played the entire game at second base, and in the field recorded five putouts, had three assists and turned a double play. He was selected the game's MVP.

Except for Gloria Axiotis (who’s worried about decreased playing time at second base), the taxmen hope to see more of Harris in upcoming seasons. That is, assuming he’s not off playing in the Little League World Series.
