Joe is a friend of Scott Gelineau's who tagged along to help fill in for DRS when the taxmen competed in the USSSA Men’s Class E Early Bird Tournament at the Connecticut Sportsplex in April of 2006.

Until he arrived at the field, the DRS captain had no idea who he was, much less that he would be playing. Since it was the taxmen's first attempt in playing in a men's (rather than coed) tournament, Scott assumed an extra body wouldn't hurt and recruited his friend Joe as a last-minute fill-in.

Joe went on to play in all three of the taxmen's games in the tourney. Joe manned the hot corner when in the field, and in limited at bats, scratched out a base hit and scored a run. (Seeing DRS scored only 11 runs in total on the day, this was no small feat.)
