The Rails JV had a 15-2 record in 2010, Scherber's first season as JV coach.

Scherber, who specializes in coaching catchers, picked up a great base of baseball experience with stints on the practice squads at both Minnesota Duluth and Wisconsin-Superior.

A 2007 PHS graduate, he led the Rails to the Section 7AA Final Four in his senior year, the school's first appearance in the semi-finals since 1986. Scherber was named to the All-Lake Superior Conference Second Team as a senior. At the conclusion of his prep career, he held PHS records in career games, plate appearances, runs scored, hits, and total bases. He also played football and hockey for the Rails.
