Rich Pohle attended Buena Park High School where he was a four year starter for the Coyotes. He received First Team All-Conference 3 out of his 4 years at Buena Park High School. In his senior year Rich was selected to play in the North South All Star game.

Today Rich still holds the school record of numerous offensive categories at Buena Park High School. Rich later went on to play for Coach Pickler at Cypress College. He played there for one year then transferred to Fullerton College where he was a First Team All-Conference player and was only 3 hits away from breaking the hits record at the school.

Rich signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies as a third baseman where he played a long side of Ryan Howard. After two years with the Phillies he was released and was picked up by the Chillicothe Paints an independent ball club out of Ohio. After having a good season with the Paints, Rich was picked up by the Seattle Mariners where he was moved to second base and won a California League Championship. Rich finished up his baseball career playing close to home with the Orange County Flyers. He played four years with the Flyers and earned team MVP twice. He also played in two All Star games in the Golden Baseball League.

After deciding to hang up the spikes he started coaching travel ball for Blue Wave baseball where he has won numerous tournaments and championships. Rich was also a coach at Beckman High School and a hitting and infield coach and Newport Harbor High School.
