Coach Hix is in his fourth season in his second stint as the head baseball coach for the 2017 season. Previously he served as BVA's head baseball coach from 1987 - 1994. In addition to BVA, he has been the head baseball coach at Baldwin, Charleroi Area and Kiski Area. He was also the baseball coach at Garrett Community College. He has a background in professional baseball with 25 years of service, serving as a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees. He is an active member of the Middle Atlantic Professional Scouts Association, the WPIAL Baseball Coaches Association, the National Baseball Coaches Association, the Baseball Coaches of America Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association. He was a 2007 inductee into the Pennsylvania Baseball Hall of Fame, sponsored by the PA Department of the American Legion. He has also served as a clinician (speaker) at various coaches’ clinics in the North East
