George Duggan

#13 - 3B, DH (profile)

George is a long-time DRS softball player who first represented the agency on the old Market Street Maulers teams in the late-1980s and early-1990s. Like Mike Malone and Carol Andrews, George joined the taxmen after the Maulers club disbanded following the 1997 season. One of George’s last hurrahs with the Maulers came in a game against Team inDRStructible in which he played shortstop and was the central figure in turning a game-ending double play to propel the Maulers to victory in the battle between two DRS teams.

With Team inDRStructible, it only took a few innings for George to settle in at third base. Though, like most players on the roster, he’s had playing time at nearly every position on the field, George has almost exclusively been a third baseman. George has played a record 133 games at the hot corner, far surpassing Steve Fador, who sits a distant second with a mere 58 games at third base.

George is easily recognizable at the plate with his “happy feet” as he anxiously shifts back and forth in the batter’s box while awaiting a pitch. That, and he tends to hold the bat high and away from his body, with his hands up above his head. But the awkward batting stance works for him, as George has been a steady batsman with DRS for years. In 10 seasons and 166 games, George sports a .507 batting average, with 272 base hits, 204 runs scored, 172 runs batted in, 56 doubles, 13 triples, and 14 homeruns.

George’s best season came in 2004 when he was one of the team’s leading hitters. That summer, he batted .633, and in 24 games, scored 38 runs, knocked in 45 runs, and stroked 50 base hits including 18 doubles, 3 triples and 4 homeruns. During the same 2004 season, George also had two of his best games. Against Acid Reign, he went 3 for 3, scored 3 runs, and drove in a career-high 5 runs. Later, in the final game of the season, he again went 3 for 3, had another 5 RBIs, and belted a pair of homeruns.
