Coach Averitt is married to Wendy Averitt and has two boys, Tyler, a 2014 THS graduate and Chase, a 2016 THS graduate. He is a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas and Missouri Valley College.

Coach Averitt has served as a coach at Trinity since 2001 and was named head baseball coach in 2013. He teaches Health, and also serves as an Assistant coach on the Trinity High School football team.
