Winter/Spring/Summer 2022 Information
Info for Winter Training for NJ Moose:

We focus on development not winning games! This process begins during Winter Training.

Q. What does this mean?

A. Each player comes to us at a certain skill level. Our job is to train players to become a better version of themselves when they started with us. Each player will learn the game of baseball appropriate to their age. We do not have ONE mold we try to fit everyone into. We understand each player is an individual and will learn at a different pace and in a different manner. Some players are visual learners while others are audio learners.

Q. Where do you train and play during the winter, spring and summer?

A. We have all of our trainings at Fred Hill, which is heated during the winter and has A/C during the summer. During the nicer weather months, we rent local fields to have outdoor practices and games. Fields for tournaments are provided by the host of each tournament.

Q. What position(s) will my child play?

A. We have player try multiple positions, especially 12 and under. You never know what position you will end up playing in high school or college. Our GM was recruited for college as an outfielder primarily and ended up pitching his entire college career. We also teach EVERY player how to pitch. This allows them to learn a new position and helps with overuse of pitchers. Youth baseball has seen an unfortunate increase in arm injuries mainly due to players pitching too much in a game AND not having enough rest in between outings. If we have a roster full of pitchers (even if you child throws 1 inning in a season) this helps prevent arm injuries. This allows us to minimize the usage of each pitcher.

Q. How many players are on a roster?

A. We have 12-14 players per roster depending on age. A 16U team might have 2 POs (Pitcher Only) therefore we can have 14 or 15 players on that roster. 9U-14U usually has 12-13 players, this allows everyone to get playing time and learn in a game situation. This also allows us to have enough players if there are 1 or 2 missing a particular game/tournament.
