Managers/Coaches Code of Conduct

ALL MANAGERS/COACHES WILL:

1. SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATE IN EAST BAY LEAGUE FUNCTIONS, i.e., FIELD WORK DAYS, FUND RAISERS, CONCESSIONS DUTIES, AND ADHERE TO EAST BAY YA RULES.
2. COMPLETE MANDATORY LEAGUE COACHING CERTIFICATION COURSE ACCORDING TO LEAGUE AND HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY GUIDELINES PRIOR TO ANY MANAGING/COACHING EVENT. (MUST BE CERTIFIED PRIOR TO PRACTICE START DATE)
3. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFE GUARDING AND RETURN OF ALL EQUIPMENT TO THE LEAGUE.
4. REFLECT AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE AGE GROUP THEY SUPERVISE.
5. MANAGERS AND COACHES ARE AWARE THAT THEY ARE AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL TO FOLLOW AS A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL.
6. COMPLY WITH THE DECISIONS OF LEAGUE OFFICIALS AND OBSERVE ALL RULES, POLICY AND PROCEDURE AS ESTABLISHED BY EBYA.
7. EXERCISE THEIR LEADERSHIP ROLE ADEQUATELY BUT LEAVE THE GAME IN THE HANDS OF THE PLAYERS.
8. ENCOURAGE THEIR PLAYERS AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY IN THE PRINCIPLES OF GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AND TEAM PLAY.
9. BE INSTRUMENTAL IN SHAPING ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR PATTERNS WHETHER THE TEAM WINS OR LOSES.
10. KNOW THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE LEAGUE (EAST BAY YOUTH ATHLETICS LOCAL RULES) AND BE ABLE TO INTERPRET THEM CORRECTLY.
11. BE WELL ACQUAINTED WITH THE PLAYER SELECTION SYSTEM.
12. BE CAUTIOUS AND USE SOUND, REASONABLE JUDGEMENT IN PROTEST SITUATION.
13. HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF FIRST AID AND SAFETY (WILL ENSURE COMPLIANCE BY ALL TEAM MEMBERS).
14. COACHES WILL BE DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE WHILE AT ANY EBYA EVENT; WILL NOT USE ANY TOBACCO PRODUCTS IN THE DUGOUT OR ON THE PLAYING FIELD.
