| What's the scoop with this? The Saints are playing a group of St. Paul "All-Stars" on May 9th. Hmmmm......are there any players from the St. Paul or Skyline League on this All-Star team?
Who's playing?

| I question the integrity of any all-star team, that I am not on..........Who's on the team any way???? I was just kidding about the integrity thing, kind of.

| From what I've heard, the guy that runs the Mpls. Cobras is putting together the team. I wouldn't really call it an "All-Star" team since he only asked his buddies to play. The only St. Paul guy that I know of that was asked to play was Whinnery from Air Freight. The rest are guys from the Cobras and the Riverview League. To consider this an All-Star team would be a gross injustice to both our leagues.

| I'm usually not one to stir the pot here on the forum, but what a joke. At least clue all the leagues in on this exhibition game. A simple e-mail or phone call to our commissioners would've done the trick.

| Go ahead and stir the pot. Somebody has to!!!
The guy that runs the Cobras (Rob Gossard sp?) is also an asst. coach at Hamline. Hamline's head coach Jason Verdugo is also the pitching coach for the Saints. Do the math...

| Just so all of you know, my name is Rob Gossard, and I am an assistant coach at Hamline University and manager of the Cobras. I did get this opportunity to put this team together because Jason Verdugo asked me to. He was trying to get a MIAC all-star team together to play the Saints, and none of the MIAC coaches wanted to do it because the playoffs are this weekend, and none of the players from the playoff teams would have been able to play. So, he asked me if I could get an amateur team together. When I started out, I emailed every coach from every team I had an email address for (from the MBA website), and asked them if they had any players that would fare well against the Saints in an exhibition game. There was a very limited response. So I did the best I could in a short amount of time. I had two weeks to put together a roster, and I do work 50+ hours a week where I don't have access to a computer like some people do when they work. I did my best, sorry if I offended anyone. But, I do stand behind the team I put together. Come out and watch, it should be fun.

| Here's the roster I pulled from the MBA website. Brian Whinnery is the only representative from either of our leagues. I have never heard of Brett Olson, Joel Brettigen, Pete Fuller, or Johnny Camp. I guess our leagues just don't stack up.
1B – Dave Lindstrom - Park National (Cobras) 2B – Dan Thompson - Park National (Cobras) SS – Joe Shallenberger - Riverview (Tonka) 3B – Matt Ode - Park National (Angels) LF – Ben Pattee - Park National (Cobras) CF – Brett Olson RF – Shane Ohland - Park National (Merchants) C – Tony Richards - Riverview (Tonka) DH – Chris Johnson - Riverview (SLP) C – Dan Lamanna - Riverview (Richfield) UT – Joel Brettingen P – Brian Whinnery St. Paul (Air Freight) P – Nate Broehm - Park National (Cobras) P – Pete Fuller P – Mike Wilfahrt - Riverview (SLP) P – Johnny Camp

| Dave Lindstrom is actually playing for St. Louis Park this year. Brett Olson was the MIAC player of the year last year for St. Thomas and now plays for the Bloomington Bulldogs. Joel Brettingen plays for the Edina Esox and holds many hitting records at Macalaster. Pete Fuller, I don't even know, but I've heard many good things about him and he plays for Hopkins. And John Camp is the top pitcher for the Metro Merchants, and scrimmaged with the Saints yesterday. So, Bleacher_Bum, I am very sorry that you are so offended that there is only one St. Paul player playing in this game, but like I said before, I emailed all of the coaches that I had email addresses for, and received a VERY limited response. If you could come up with a better player for six of the 9 position players that I have, I would be surprised. So, in my opinion, I did a pretty good job with what I had. Come out and watch, and support Minnesota Amateur Baseball. If we can make this a yearly event, it will help market all four of our leagues.

| Johnny Camp? Wow, you must be digging deep for talent. How many teams has this guy played for in the past 10 years? Mediocre at best. The only thing he has been an all-star at is putting up dry wall at the new McDonald's in North Minneapolis.

| This pretty much says it all...
"...Joel Brettingen plays for the Edina Esox and holds many hitting records at Macalaster. Pete Fuller, I don't even know, but I've heard many good things about him and he plays for Hopkins..."
How about Sid Finch??? I hear his fastball is 99-102 mph.
How about some Rosetown guys like Pat Carey, McDermott, Scanlon, or Luke Vogel who hit 20 bombs last year. Where's Billy Mauer?? How can we have an All-Star team without a member of the Mauer family?? Do they know about this??

| Like Jim, I also don't mean to stir the pot, but nobody from Stockmens was ever contacted. We only knew about this exhibition game because one of my co-workers plays for the Cobras and we chatted about it a few times. I think it's a great idea and the roster that Rob put together is very impressive. However, there really should be more than one representative from the St. Paul/Skyline Leagues. If there was a limited response, that's cool, but like I said nobody from our team was contacted and I have a hard time believing Rockwood from Rosetown would've ignored a call or e-mail. Like Bleacher Bum said above, they have some really good players that should be playing in this game. Rooster and Tri-City have some good players as well...
Anyways, good luck tonight. Wish I could go but I have other plans.

| Robbie, sounds like you're catchin' some hell for this exhibition game. How come you didn't put it on the St. Paul League website? Just a thought. Good luck this year coaching bud. If you need a backup shortstop, just give me a call. Rich Slindin'pants.

| How does everyone care so much about this all-star game. If you want to play against washed up minor league ball players... schedule the damn Minnetonka Millers. Those are the real minor leagues from the "roid" era.
