| A Bulls vs Bengals rematch has been a long time coming since 2004.
In Game 1, behind a Leyland, complete game 2 hit shutout with 10 K's the Bulls won 3-0. The Bengals defense was not quite up to par, while at the same time, the Bulls couldn't get the big hit despite having many runners on base. Mike Howden went deep for the Bulls in the 5th to give them a 3-0 lead which behind a defense that player errorless baseball, was more than enough.
In Game 2, the Bengals brought Francis Palotta to the mound and he was the best pitcher the Bulls have faced since Bart in Round 1 of 2005 playoffs. The Bulls could only manage 3 hits, but scrapped out two runs on some strong baserunning by Bryan Blasko. On the other side of the ball,McKnight (not to be outdone by Malibu) pitched a gem striking out 8 on a way to a complete game shutout 2-0 for the Bulls.
The openeing weekend was similar to the way the Bulls started last season against Pickering with 2 tight complete games wins by Leyland and McKnight.
The Bengals are a solid team and when they get their defense sorted out, should be top competiion in the west. It was good seeing them again and we're sure they will rebound quickly to make their presense in the west known.
The Bulls double header sweep gives them an early 2-0 record as they attempt to win the West division this year.
