Author TOPIC: Any Chance in the State Tournament?

Having watched a number of Stockmen's games I'm finding myself unimpressed with the Skyline league as a whole in regard to other Class A leagues. What are the realistic chances that any team from Skyline can win the Class A tournament come August and what is your reasoning for your views?

Since I can't pitch every game in the state tournament, I find our chances very unlikely.

Hey Naughty Girl... I didn't know there was any rules against pitching back to back to back to back games. Whata ya got... a noodle arm? I guess there's no need for the defense to come out on the field when you pitch, Aye! So I'll mark down the Roosters as bottom dwelling and no hope of making it to the tournament then?! Would you rather pitch for the MudDucks?

I guess lack of response to this thread means that everyone in the Skyline league thinks they suck and that any team going to the State Tournament from this league might as well plan on two games and done for the year. I thought someone might actually stand up for this league, but at least you all seem to accept the reality of this leagues chances.

Yaz as coach of the St. Paul Roosters I will agree that we are scared of all the mighty Mpls. teams. We would embarrass ourselves and frankly we are thinking of just packing it in for the rest of the summer. What JV team did you get cut from when you tried out in high school? I am assuming that you aren't a player because I wouldn't expect a baseball player to make that dumb of a comment. I think you should just stick to your fantasy baseball and your dads old porn to give you excitement. Cya at the park.

So in other words you're planning on following the MudDucks by forfeiting?! I suppose that is one way of trying to save face. Here's a question for you FogHorn LegHorn... as coach of the Chickens have you ever considered throwing that 40 mph heater of yours in a game? It doesn't take a lot of discernment to spot mediocrity in the Skyline, what's your record against other Class A leagues and even worse... how are you doing against those B teams. Perhaps the Skyline could drop down to Class B to help boost their morale!

At least Horns has the balls to say who he plays for. We play to play and have fun, we don't spend the entire offseason looking and trying to get D1 and ex minor league guys to play for our team. We get who we can get and just play. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. We have made it to state a number of times and have won it once, it was a while ago but we have won the State Tourney. If the Skyline struggles in the tourney, who cares, unless you win the State Tourney, nothing else matters, no one remembers who finished 2nd and per your thinking, all the leagues suck unless your team does great in the tourney. Just keep you mouth shut and enjoy the season, it is not that long and before you know it, the snow will be flying.

Hey Floundering... would you like to make up some more excuses for why you're mediocre? Here I've given you an opportunity to point out why the Skyline should be viewed as a solid Class A league and all you do is whimper and admit that many Class B teams can kick your a$$. Is it this lack of competitive zeal that leads to a fan base of fifteen people including girl friends of the players at a game? Come on, stand up for your league!

Old Guy... my hobby is to make sure your not DEAD! So far the only response to my question is to call me names. Are you all content to be the cellar dwellers of Class A? Give me some facts to show why Skyline shouldn't be changed to BottomLine! Is there any team out of the Skyline that has a chance? Will Green Mill have a chance or will they go belly up like last year? Are the Roosters worth more than a frying pan? Will TriCity need to add three more cities? Will Stockmen's ever win their own tournament? Give some reasons for why you don't just stick beers at each bag and call the game when the last person passes out.

So Toothless Attack... you sayin Skyline is only usurped at the bottom by the St. Paul league? Geez, this league really is a Class C league in disguise if you can't give a better answer than..."I think the St. Paul league sucks worse than ours."

Didn't the St. Paul league fair much better than the Skyline in the last 2 tourneys, recordwise?
I don't know if there is a state champ amoung us, but the St. Paul League teams will represent themselves well winwise(and with class I might add).

2-0 vs St Paul (CE & Rosetown)
6-0 vs Park National (Devils, Angels, Lakers, Blue Sox, Lyon's Pub & Wesley Homes)
1-0 vs Riverview (Atomic)

Throw in a no hitter vs Osceola, 26-3 record...

Brad, Let's stay on topic. The question and my statement were reguarding the state tourney. Yes the Shark are doing well (even against quality opponents), but as always it comes down to how you do at the end of the year that seems to matter to most everyone here. But, there are 2 other teams (if you make it) from Skyline and 3 from St. Paul that will be at the tourney. We'll see how they all do record wise. I believe the last 2 years , St.paul has done better. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Tim

You guys, the Shark that is, couldn't make it out of the playoffs when you were in the St. Paul league. You had to start your own league just to have a chance to get there. And you haven't faired to well once you finally got to the state tournament. So until you win "the big one" just STFU.

YAZ, I would watch some other games besides Stockmen . Often teams will play down (or up) to their opponents level. (That was not a shot at Stockmen).
Watch some other games and see if your opinion changes. You might make #16 in the stands and steal a girlfriend for yourself. (That WAS a shot at YAZ.) Tim

Tim, thanks for recognizing my suave sophistication that makes the ladies buckle at the knees!

I saw the Rosetown A's lose to Stockmen's and play rather poorly at the Stockmen's invite so based upon Rosetown, I can only surmise how good the St. Paul league is. I do find it funny that the best argument a Skyline person has is to rip on the St. Paul league. It's kind of like ripping on your older brother to try make you look good. Either way, you look bad.

Somebody please give some factual information and reason for thinking the Skyline won't drop both its games at state and go home for another year when most of your players will be older, slower, and generally less competitive than this year.

Tri City beat Rosetown and CE.
Green Mill beat Rosetown, CE and S&S.
Stockmens beat Rosetown.

The teams at the top for St Paul seem down this year, we'll get them this year.

OK Attacker, point taken. But don't come up with some lame excuse like the St. Paul teams played weaker MPLS. teams and thats why we lasted longer than the Skline in the tourney. Hopefully, no MPLS teams are around after round 2 or 3. And then YAZ can whine all winter to his cyber girlfriend.

We did win two games the year before in the state tourney.

You all sound like two dorky sisters claiming that each one looks prettier than the other all the while both of you look like a couple of hags! At least the coach for the Roosters admitted that the league sucked and that his team was heading for the packing plant for processing. I'm sure there is some call for shark meat in the local freezers somewhere! Perhaps the Irish will have a feast on all the food being served only to go down in two straight come tourney time.

Why must everyone always talk about past tournaments? The Twins won the world series back in 1991, does that mean the american league better than the national league?

Guys think about it! Now is now that past is gone. The only team that can currently have bragging rights is Wesley Homes they are the reigning champs.

You're right D&B, but what reason does the Skyline league have to think they won't go out two games straight in the tourney? Is there a team with three really solid pitchers? Is there a team with tremendous defense? Is there a team that has the hitting to overcome good pitching? Why should anyone think there's a chance at winning a game in the playoffs?

Thanks to the Shark for putting the State Tournament Bracket online.

Now that we know who'se playing how do people see things playing out.

If Roosters can get by Lyon's Pub I see them playing in the quarter finals and losing to Wesley Homes.

Will North End continue to win or do they quickly go to the losers bracket?

Tri-City should win their first game, but move to the losers bracket in the second game.

I see no team from Skyline or St. Paul making it into the semi-finals in the winners bracket. Any team from these conferences will probably have to sneak in through the Losers column.

Any reason to disagree? (Beside the fact that some of you are suckling the tit of your own teammates!)
