| the two teams in question are cm and village pub they have to come to a mandatory meeting next monday. pub has two kids playing baseball one guy in another league and didnt report any of them as exempt. the at bats to qualify for the playoffs is why they need to report who is exempt .cm was brought up because they havent turned in a contract for the guy they were alowed to pick up and are still using a guy they were suposed to drop . all coventry bs rules but this could shake up the top especially if the village pub is found to be in the wrong . the three guys have played alot of games . and cm would drop out of first.hey i say let anyone in and if your not cheating your not trying .

| I'll clarify the issue for you guys and let you formulate your own opinions on the matter.
Firstly, I just took over the team about four weeks ago and had nothing to do with the roster other than the fact that I brought in some of the players who are Officers that work with me or other agencies that work with us. Sean Heaney was running the team prior to me taking over due to his being bounced off the team by Mr. Hokins for reasons I can't state at this time.
Danny Howard and Mark Costello as far as I knew were legal players and were on my roster from the very beginning. I have no contact with either of these guys other than Sunday morning and I know nothing about them other than they both used to play for Johnson and Wales college and that they are both very good players.
Apparently Savario's complained that these two were playing baseball in another league which is a violation of the league rules. Unfortunately I am not able to make the meetings since I work nights at the Prison and this information was not given to me by our representative who goes to the meetings, which is unfortunate because this is something I would have liked to have known about before logging on to a website and nearly shitting myself when I see it on the opening page. I immediately called Ian Smith who told me what the problem was and I then called both Howard and Costello and asked them if it was true. They both said yes they are in fact playing Baseball for some amatuer league. I called Ian back and Derek called Rob Raymond who stated that I am allowed two exempt players, and that Howard and Costello could in fact be my two exempt players, but I had a third problem with Carlo Vaccaro who was seen at Atwood playing for another team and was said to have been playing for a team in Gloster. I went to work and confronted him, ready to kill him since he told me that he did not play for anyone else and he said that he was only playing that night for a friends team because he was short players, and is NOT on any other roster. I asked him if he played in Gloster and he said that he was NOT playing in Gloster and quit playing there when he joined our team last year in Fall Ball. I called the guy who runs the league in Gloster and he said that Carlo is not playing right now for that league, but in actuality he could since Gloster is a pick-up league and is strictly a recreational league since they do not keep rosters or stats, this is would not be a violation.
In my opinion my team is completely legal, but it apparently needs to be rectified at a meeting. So you guys can decide for yourself what the story is.

| Artie, we are definately trying but in no way were we trying to cheat. Believe me I wouldn't put guys on the roster which is broadcast on a website for everyone to see If I had any clue that they were illegal.
I'm still not up to speed on all the league rules, and I spoke with Helen Baxter, Ian, and supposedly Derek spoke with Rob and I'm told that I'm allowed to have two exempt players due to the fact we sucked last year. The third player in question is legal and is not on a roster other than mine. So we are legal. But I just wanted to point out, that I was in no way trying to be shady, or underhanded....my philosophy stands as it always was, I could care less who I play against, if I can't beat you then I keep trying and keep working on building my team....legally. I'll take my ass whipping like we did against you guys this year, and keep trying harder. To me this is just Sunday morning softball, I don't play anywhere else, and I love playing here....but honestly this shit has pissed me off to no end and I'm ready to just fucking walk. With work, school, family, and all the shit that life throws at you I really don't need this shit on top of it. I'd much rather just go over to Jr's and sit the bench for them, then have to go through what I do with the pub. Nearly forfeiting this Sunday because half my guys want to get shit faced drunk and not show. Having to pick up players each week because they lost their licenses, liming the field, getting on the phone and have to call a ton of guys too make sure they are there....then have someone cry about my roster because the doormat team actually won a few this year....it really isn't worth it, and alot of guys on my team are ready to quit too because of all this shit. Believe me I understand why the rules are there and I partly agree with them. But when Jr's lost a guy because he literally shattered his arm and they can't pick up a guy because of the rules that is truly bullshit. The rule is to keep ringers from coming in and mopping up the league, and thats fine with me, but anyone can tell you and you know for yourself that there are no ringers on my team. Howard and Costello are good but certainly baseball is much different than softball and they are still learning this game. My team is basically average. Europa split with us this weekend, Savarios split with us, Mens Club Split with us, and we were lucky to get a split with Jr's and your team crushed us. If you look at it like this, lots of teams have several players who play in multiple leagues, I have only two guys who play anywhere but here....they play on Sunday only. And while I understand the rule and like I said I agree and abide by it, it really should be abolished since there are so many other guys who play on multiple teams. It is kind of a moot point, either open up the league or keep it for guys who play in this league period. But since the rule is in place, I am, and will abide by it.

| Thanks Lemdawg.....The players in question have been on the roster since day one, and they already have plenty of at bats and have gotten in their 1/2 +1 games as well as at bats....they question is since they were not listed as exempt players from the very beginning will the league just allow me to list them as exempt players and just move on or should my team have to forfeit all their games, because the previous manager overlooked the fact that he has to list them as exempt players. I'm hoping that they list them as exempt and we are able to continue playing. It's obvious that we were not trying to be shady since they were on the roster from day one and I continued to turn their stats in on a weekly basis, the only problem is that I have to leave work come down to the meeting and then go back to work. I'm also irritated because me and the officers that I work with give up overtime or have to do switches with other officers to be here on Sunday morning just to play softball while the young guys are all getting hammered and not showing without so much a phone call to let me know there not coming, and then sitting around till 10:10 and nearly having to forfeit because they take nothing serious. So does Jr's have any room for me on the bench????

| Mertog that was quite a rant. Can you do that again next week so I can have something interesting to read on here again? And if you want to ride the bench at least come sit with the big dogs at the PNA. JR's didn't have anyone on their bench so you might get lonely.
I understand the 2 baseball guys and the exempt rule was overloomked but the guy that played at Atwood is questionable. Atwood is an ASA sanctioned league with submitted rosters. So he either is on a roster or played illegaly there as someone else. Even if it was just for one game.
Way to man up and tell the story and not go into hiding. Anyone from CM gonna chime in with their story?

| mertdog i didnt mean you were cheating as i stated let everyone in . there is some questions about how many baseball players are on your team. matt saballa was mentioned also . ask all the young kids who is playing baseball or not. there are definitely a couple teams you beat that are looking for the wins . i beat you twice and dont really care . but at least to coaches said they would be glad to take the wins . i lost to the team carlo helped at atwood and i knew he was not on the roster . i could have made a issue but didnt ,not my style . like i said check how many baseballers you have and go in with the facts. by the way tell them the red sox arent calling give it up. just a little advice if your going to pick up bballers dont pick up the best pitcher in the league.

| Artie, I didn't pick up Howard or Costello they are friends of Derek. As for Saballa he doesn't play anywhere except the Pub. Why his name would be mentioned is beyond me. He is barely hitting .400 here, once again not like he is a ringer either.
I can't even believe that someone brought him up.

| Artie, you probably don't care about my roster, and I definately don't care about anyone else's roster, because your team is winning is and probably the odds on favorite to win the whole league, and I don't care simply because to me it is Sunday morning softball and not life and death as some of these guys think it is. I'm simply playing for fun, and don't get me wrong it is nice to be able to compete. But thus far the most fun we had was with the guys from Jr's....just a good bunch of guys and fun to compete against. No back stabbing, no whinning, lots of laughs...the way it should be. Now I'm hearing that Matt Saballa's name was brought up too??? This is fucking ridiculous, the kid doesn't play anywhere but here and that I know for a fact...I'll tell you about that when I see you I can't go into detail about that on this forum. What it comes down to is some guys who pretend to be our freinds to our faces, and come over and bullshit with us on our bench when we played them, now are trying to screw us for some reason. Like I always say in Prison, the bigger the smile the sharper the knife. And I'm sure they would like a couple of wins under their belts, God knows they can't get them on the field so they will try to do it on paper, which is weaker than circus lemonade. Anyway, I'm sure this will be resolved, because like I said, nothing was done intentionally it was simply a clerical error, and I believe that my roster is legal...and I'm sure everyone will agree if they simply listen objectively.

| Chris Multon's roster is none of my business, but I will say this....if they need a player, because Knight and a few other guys left....let them have the player. Same with Jr's....when they had a guy out injured they were not able to get a guy. I know why the rule is there and thats fine, but there are instances that come up where the rules do not apply and exceptions should be made. I have never in my life seen a "Zero Tolerance" policy that actually works 100% of the time. For instance a school had a zero tolerance policy which stated no knives could come into the school and all students would be expelled for violation of said rule. A 5 year old girl was given a butter knife to spread her peanut butter and jelly sandwich, by her mother no less and the school expelled her. Where is the equity? The rule becomes more important than the people it encompasses, and that becomes more injust than the violation itself.

| JR, I agree with you pal, it's no fun being called a cheater. No one has actually called me a cheater, and Ian and the Baxter's have been nothing but professional with me in dealing with this mess. It's all nothing but a big misunderstanding and a clerical error on our part. I just wish that certain people, whom will remain nameless for now, had simply come to me when we played them and brought the question up to me then instead of coming over to our bench and pretending to be buddies with Cos and Howard and then try to shove it in my ass later when I'm not even at the meeting to defend myself or my team. This could have all been averted with a simple phone call. So what I have learned, and I will pass it on to my team when we play them next year, is use the pent up hatred an anger on the field and squash the fucking bugs.

| Ryno....thanks for the invite to sit the bench for the PNA. I used to play for the "Big Red Machine" many moons ago, on the semi-fast team and slo-pitch on some tournaments.
The only guys still around are Rob Raymond, Joe Lapinski...and Roger used to play for the TAP. Everyone is gone, Mike Bradshaw, Termite, Glen Jennings, Dex Deroisers....shit I'm getting old. But semi-fast was a great game! Wish they still played it around here.

| if you want to get technical, rosters for all the other leagues, includint the 3 i play in during the week, rosters dont or didnt have to be in untill a few weeks ago, where as coventry had to be in before the season. so technically how do you stop someone from playin?? i noticed this before our season started and figured it was cheap, but we should have done it, exspecaially since JRS ISNT havin the season we thought and we have just enough everyweek. just make the rule next yr that everyone gets 1 more exempt player and then no excuses if people get hurt move or quit. we had a kid play with a busted arm for a few weeks. cm and pub are havin good yrs, noone wants to see them forefit. but jrs will see them both in the play offs, yeah i said both cause we WILL be in the finals.

| Okay Ryno, here is your daily dose of dirt. Both Chris Moulton and the Pub were cleared of any roster violations. The two players on the Pub Roster were simply updated to exempt status and Chris Moulton was allowed to add a player to his roster since he only has 9 players on his roster right now, he simply had to turn in a contract for him and he is good to go. The issues seemed alot worse "prima facie" than they actually were, both the Pub and CM's issues could have been cleared up with a simple telephone call but it seems that the league just wanted to air them out at a meeting to assure that all teams didn't feel like we were being given any preferential treatment and so that everyone could be aware of the issue, which is certainly understandable. Sorry to report there was no serious drama, and Artie was well behaved and didn't tear the joint up.
