Just wanted to tell everyone that the new car is out and man it is awesome. I ran it at ft myers sunday for the first time and the new car is 10 times better than old car. Plus with the arms being right or left as well as other parts in is cheaper to keep spairs. See you guys when ever a new track opens. Also start coming to the state races they are fun.

I also know there will be some very good competition at the new track. This track should have some excellent drivers going out. I know "The Sleeper" will be joining us. Kinda reminds me of the talent we had at Tropical plus all the new talented drivers as well. Should be a very good show and fast as heck!!!!
gentalmen this one should be good.
Let the races begin!

ok what the heck.. let spice this up a bit.

DJ have you driven both the MTX 4 and the 720?
What are the biggest differences you see and feel between these 2 cars? I know the 720 is better than the 710 but how is the 720 compared to the mugen?

I have never driven anyother car so I can not answer that question. I will say though that the new 720 is super strong, pretty easy to work on and holds it setting, and what more can you ask. Oh hey it work out of the box with the stock setting.

An easy to work with car is important. Thats great that it works right out of the box since a lot of drivers had difficulty with that aspect "any brand" . How does the 720 handle better than the 710?? did you notice a difference?

Big difference. I have a lot more steering and more rotation with keeping to stability. Also when you do adjustment something, you can see the difference, with the 710 is was not as noticeable.

Hi DJ, I am leaning towards the 720, I hope you were serious about you offer to help setup the car. I race mugen in offroad, but with your great review of the 720 I am seriously considering getting one after the track opens. By the way, while on the subject, what do you recommend would be a competitive power source.

I am very willing to help all that has a serpent 710 or 720 and wants to learn. I am also willing to have a seminar for those interested in learning about the 720, when the new track opens. We can arrange it with the track owners(who ever they are) and I will have classes on the 720, mega motors with clutch setting for the mega line. More to come in the future, once we have a track we can talk more.

well I've done my research on the 720 and it looks awesome but ive been also looking at the 835, my birthday is in september so i'm looking at 2 options the 720 with the power pack race legal or the 835 with the outlaw power pack keep in mind that this is going to be my first kit, but i'm a pretty experinced builder with 1/10 scale and full size which will be better

dj is right, the fl state series is no longer running the outlaw class in 2006-2007. i have a impact-835 and it really needs a .15 big block engine to run properly, the smallblock does not have enough power as the 835 weighs alot more than a touring car.

We will probably cover both Serpent and Mugen in these seminars. DJ is more than welcome to hold a seminar on the 720.

Also parts for the new 720, Mugen MTX4 and Kyosho RRR will be stocked.

Well, just got in from GLC, Got 5th had some issues in the main, was up to 1st or 2nd, but I hit a burm and lost 4 laps fixing the car. I recommend the mega power pack. It is the best for the money and they like to run rich, which helps the motor last. You just have to know now to tune them.

the 720 needs nothing for hop ups. If you are the type of person that like the bling, than that is different. the 720 is geat out of the box. I like the mono block, it keeps the chassis stiffer, but the new car is a strong and stiff as could be. Peter my e-mail was down, but you can call me @305-586-6072 or now e-mail me @ 3county@bellsouth.net, with any questions. this information is for all that want help. i am leaving for the ft myers state race in the morning, hope to see some of you guys there.

there are a-lot of good deals with the 710 going on now..
of course the 720 is the latest and greatest but being able to afford to race is very important.
If you can afford a 720 great else get whatever you can afford. the 710s are at very good prices now and is still better than other cars out there. Just get something to race with. If you are a possible A or B main driver I would go with the 720.

depends of the motor. A nova based motor takes longer. A Mega is pretty quick. What do you have. Also remember, no matter what motor to take it apart and clean it before you put in to be broken in. Sometimes when it comes from the manufacture it has some burs or metal shavings in it.

Should i get the Mega M12 powerpack thats for sale on shopserpent? Id it performs the way serpent claims its a discount from othere motors.

I can definitely vouch for that engine. It's a beast out there. MIght even be a little much for you as a beginner. but who cares :D. Make sure to make friends with the Serpent guys so they can teach you how to tune it. It required a little more patience to get it right, especially when u're learning. But once you get the hang of it you'll love it.

Pete if you are willing to wait till noon then I will help you. It is quick and easy. If you have no experience I do not want to really tell you, but I will. Break it in in the car. I open the top needle as much as necessary to just get the tires moving at full throttle. Do this for 2 tanks and then run it rich in the car on the track for 3 tanks. then you can start tuning it. Just wait for me, if you can.

I really appreciate all the time you spent on my car. I will be out of the country next weekend, but plan to go back out to the track the following weekend. Maybe you can help me get the 2speed then. Anyways, the car handled great even for a rookie driver like me. Funny thing is that when I got home, I realized I lost a front dog bone. The car still handled well even without the dogbone. Ok guys I am building my Serpent 720 and just wanted to report my build experience and findings. So far im impressed with changes made. I really like the new shocks which are butter smooth. I can honestly say that in this case option parts are really just that. (OPTIONAL) ooks like this kit comes with alot of what was old hop-ups as standard including lightweight pivot balls and lock down wheel hubs. In esssence at least for me this car seems to be sum of everything leaned and applied from all previous 200mm car designs from serpent. I can see the evolution since ive owned them all in past. There is still room for improvement since nothings perfect but the car looks awsome as far as the features included. If the car performs well on the track and is robust when put to the test I fell this kit is the way to go for pro level drivers. However I wont go as far to say that its for everyone since its still a serpent machine that requires its own finess and touch which comes from experience. I will say that the kit is well documented and that it might be worth taking a chance. I just feel though that its an advanced design which might be to much for beginners... maybe not.

Ok someone needs to come out witha ball/gear diff hybrid. Like a gear diff but adjustable on the track!

For those of you still building on step 3.9 on build manual that back end goes in at an angle from top down then settles down on the back end. it wont go in if trying to push in straight. Once thats done you will be rewarded with absolutly no binding on the back arms. NICE!! no sanding here.

Ok just some background info.. I think the 705 was a big mistake as far as a car design to compete with the new mugen at the time. The 705 gave mugen and other manufactures a chance to put out better handling cars compared to the 705 platform. This is of course old news. Then the 710 almost was there this car the 720 is (I hope) the culmulation of all lessons learned in past designs. Im expecting this car to handle great. I will report my finding either way. I can say that I think the car is a great value with all the goodies it brings. Considering all the included hop-ups your really getting alot with the USA version of the 720. comes with 3 choices oneway, solid, gear diff choices as standard front drives all in the kit!

ok back to building....

Ok is it Parkay....or Butter?
No its serpents suspension.
Im very happy with how smooth the suspension worked out on the 720. Usualy I sand down the rods or ream plastic but just when i'm about to do that. (which is standard procedue for me) I notice that this new suspension doesnt need it! The suspension is buter smooth without any extra detail work. I was extra inpressed with the rear suspension because of all the areas that usually cause binding in most cars. There was no binding at all! even with the rear sway 4 pivot balls and steel pins ..all worked together like a fine timepiece moving in sync and no binding. just smooth butterness.
