Ok guys. The season is over besides make up games. We've all seen almost every team twice. We know who can hit and who can't, we can easily just look at the "runs for" and "runs against" on the standings page. So lets talk about an aspect of the game that's constantly overlooked. Defense. Who's the team that you got no easy runs against, that you could only get guys on base if you dropped in singles or hit homeruns. Who made you say "what do I have to do to get a hit on these guys?". My vote is for JRs. What do you think?

I would have to say JR's I mean they are tight on defense when the team shows up.

Looks like we got a 3 way tie between Europa, JR's, and Crowe Bar. Lets get some more votes in here and bust this thing wide open.

My vote is for Europa and PNA, look at the standings PNA has the least runs against.

I play for crowe bar, and we have decient outfielders playing infield because of the depth we have.

JR's hasnt had its players playing their correct positions all year. Most of the outfielders belong in the infield, but they are ballplayers.

I would toss the Pub in there too, we actually do play pretty damn good defense, but it seems everyone comes out and hits against us. We couldn't get lucky in a whore house with a fist full of fifties.

We have a great 3rd baseman in Steve White, he is like a hoover and sucks up everything over there. Not to mention he took a screaming shot to the forehead this year, and simply picked the ball up and fired it off to first before he staggered around shaking off the cobwebs.

Matty Saballa is a great defensive shortstop with good homerun power, though not hitting for average this year. Matty's only problem is that he is usually so hung over he see's three balls coming at him at once, so I tell him get the one in the middle.

Howard and Costello are as good as any outfielders in the state, and I match them up with anyone..anywhere. Two of the best arms I have ever seen anywhere and flat out run like deer out there.

Carlo Vaccaro (Big Rexia)is solid at second and Erik (The Little Guy) is a very good second baseman too when he is not pitching.

I play what is called Self-Defense over at first, just do what I do not to go home in a body bag.

Yeah Howard robbed me of a homerun at hunters. He also had one bounce off his glove and go over for me. No offense, and I'll be the first to admit my team sucked this year (Baxter's) but I wasn't all that impressed with the pub's defense when we played you guys. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that we may have caught ya on a bad sunday. I'd also like to vote for myself as the best defensive catcher in the league. 3 tag outs at home and only 1.7% of the pitches got to the backstop. Hey Jeffc, are you the guy that was interested in playin fallball with me and my friend dj?

1B. I can scoop poor throws better than anyone. Ground balls are another story. OLE’
Joe L is still rock solid for an old Hustler.

2B. Revolving door. Even I play here sometimes so you know it’s bad.

3B. Disco Ron's ankle injury hurts his range. Still got a cannon.
Perry the Younger is on the island for misfit toys over there.
Todd just lets it hit him in the chest then he picks it up, winds up, and throws one at my feet.

SS. Mansour pretty solid. Likes hairy man ass.

C. Brad. Go ahead and try to run him over I dare you.

That fucking over the middle guy I hate. Perry the Elder. Plays good D except when he broke my thumb last year.

LF. Ray. Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son.

LC. Tommy C. Will he ever hit a cutoff man?

RC. Phil. He is hitting that crap out of the ball so I don’t even care how he plays in the field.

RF. JK. He has a nice ass. I get to see it a lot when he is running after the ball that just burned him because he was playing so close trying to look at my ass.

Best defenseive team my ass. We will just pound you to death.

Coming up next. Ryno's hitting and defensive all star picks. Is it obvious that I am bored today?

Yeah Ryno, I've played first when little perry was playing third. I got dizzy just watchin him have to make those stupid spins off balls down the line just to set himself for a throw. Daddy perry was no treat either playin second for us last fall. He'd do fine just fielding ball and throwin em to me, but once he'd have to turn double plays, the ball's comin at about 120mph and never right at me. Bless you for playing with him all season

Perry the Elder normally maks good throws. Just that one time he hung me out to dry with a throw way up the line.
Perry the Younger can play a decent 1B and OF as well but we only have so many places.
Sunday is going to be fun when everyone is giving me shit for busting their balls.

Yeah papa perry has to be the best player I've ever been on the same team with. But what im sayin is his throws are either perfect, or utterly retarded. There's no in between with the Ron. Always hits well though. I should come play with you guys for a season so I can learn to hit better. All I've learned from the baxters guys is how to get way too mad when we lose

Ryman.....yeah we didn't play particularly well against Baxters, enough to win two but not where we should be either. As for Howard....well, he was being looked at by Pro scouts while he played College Baseball....as a pitcher mind you but he can definately flat out play. When Danny takes the game seriously (which is rarely) because he is only here to have fun, but when he does...he misses absolutely nothing. Mind you he has this teeny weeny little baseball infielders glove that I can't even figure out how a softball fits in the damn thing and I'm amazed he catches anything with it and yet he has pulled off some of the best catches I have ever seen in softball. Costello, same applies...when he is out to play, nothing gets by him...just flat out sick.

I feel like I need to update the PNA list of defenive players based on yesterday's comments when I got to the game.

Rob Raymond was upset he did not get mentioned. At Pitcher Rob Raymond is like a block of swiss cheese. Lots of holes and smells a little moldy. How was that Rob?

In RC Phil was upset I didn't not mention his flyball tracking ability. Then the first batter of the game proceeded to turn him around like a ballerina on a slightly deeper than routine fly ball. The gods were avenged!

Since Beaver does not really have a regular position we decided to make up one for him. UTILITY MAN. Whatever. He is one of the best hitters I know. He can call himself whatever he wants.

I think my days of playing defense are nearing an end. The only reason I am not DH or catching now is because we have guys that are actually worse than I am, or are to old to be running around all day.
Yeah Phil you knew it was coming.

Ryno, you still have plenty of game in you...maybe if you invent some sort of apparatus that hangs down from your groin to fill in that little hole that is just big enough for a softball to squeak through it'll turn things around.

Next time I see you guys, I comin in high and tight, so don't crowd the plate.

"Clear the Mechanism"

What movie is that from?

Rob's ability as a softball player and his ability as the blender man and high quality roomate are totally unrelated.

A good blender man is a highly overlooked quality these days. Nothing is worse than a bad mud slide, nothing is better than a good one. A guy who can mix things up in a blender as good as he mixes up his pitches definately has a high value on todays market and is worth his weight in gold.

Great Baseball movie.

Even being a sports movie I could not bring myself to watch another Kevin Costner snorefest. If it wasn't for Nuke Laloosh Bull Durham would have sucked. Field of Dreams sucked. And that golf movie he did sucked. And so did every non sports movie he ever did.
