| I did a little checking around this website. All but 4 of JR’s wins were blowouts. Of the 4 games the player in question had the following numbers.
1 Run win vs. Baxter’s 2 for 5, 3 RBI, 1 Run. 4 Run win vs. Baxter’s 1 for 4, 1 RBI. 6 Run win vs. Tristate 2 for 4, 2 RBI, 2 Runs. 2 Run win vs. Delpadre 2 for 3, 3 RBI, 1 Run.
Except for possibly the Delpadre and the first Baxter’s games I doubt that he was the deciding factor in the outcome. And the answer is yes I have a lot of time on my hands and I am a computer whiz. I say smack JR on the wrist and give them 4 losses for these close games that Bob could have had an effect on the final. This is a team that has been playing for a few years and to my knowledge have not had any problems until this. No need to bring the hammer down on them for a first time infraction.

| Ryno, I play for Baxter's and I personally don't want the wins. I don't remember playing JRs and thinking "damn, if it wasn't for that one guy right there we'd be winning".

| Tommy, you and I both agree it is supposed to be a fun league amongst friends, and yes it is supposed to be competitive. Yeah they broke the rules, but tossing them out of the playoffs for doing what it took to be able to field a team? I don't know I think it could be done a different way.

| i asked at the begining of the year if scott robillard could play we as a team agreed not to use him because we would forfeit any games he played. For the reason good rule or bad rule we did not use scott. I think the rule sucks i wish anyone could play but someone put this rule in and never took it out. NEXT year when we remove it then everyone can come and play. I don't care who i play against its only softball and i like to play.
My intention by saying they should not be allowed to use him is because no one else got to use extra players. I am sorry you had roster issues come to the league and have a vote at the meeting on how to fill the voids, I like playing against JR's they are a good team that plays a good game.
I didn't make this rule up, and I am certainly not the one inforcing it.

| There are good arguments for getting rid of the exempt rule and good arguments for keeping it. I've heard from both sides and have written a rather extensive proposal and rule amendments that I think will pacify everyone.
What I saw this year was not so much a problem with the exemption rule, but rather more of a problem of the rule regarding picking up players for injured players or players who quit, and fielding teams during tournaments. I think I have written several solutions that will be fair to everyone, allow teams to maintain a larger team so they can play both tournaments and in this league and increase the amount of exempt players for everyone, as well as help out the bottom echelon and make the league more competitive....if that is truly the motives of the guys who wish to eliminate the exempt rule.
One of my proposals is that each team will be allowed to pick up players at any time during the season to maintain their maximum amount of players. No longer should a team have to fall to 10 or less players before being able to only pick up one. If you start the season with 21 you should be allowed to maintain 21. If you lose one you pick one up. There will be guidelines of course but it would work. Thus, teams who play tournaments and have 5 or six or even 10 guys missing will still be able to field a team here on Sunday. One of the problems with Jr's is they were not allowed to pick up players, and that caused this whole mess. With my proposal they would be able to pick up a player at anytime. If you start the season with 21 guys, and you lose 2 guys you pick up 2 guys to get back to 21. If you start with 15 you only get to pick up guys until you reach 15 players again. Essentially you maintain the number of players you started with. As I said, there are alot of guidelines that will go along with this to keep teams from dumping players to get better players and I think I found a solution to that as well. This in addition to increasing the number of exempt players a team gets each year will help stregnthen the league and increase competition.
