Since we're actively and openly recruiting, here's my pitch to remain....

Broken down, 41 year old left fielder, seeks opportunity to continue to play with the Wedge.

Everyone has Coco Lopez!

I need to ask a question, and this is not solely directed at the Wedge or any other team for that matter. For two years now there has been a group of guys that have approached the league about entering a team. They have been denied twice and I have a feeling this year they will be denied again because of the league having 10 teams already. I understand the need to keep the league to a certain number of teams and I respect that. My question is why not have some of the teams that struggle year in and year out for players combine into one team and this way the new team can enter. It will allow new players into the league and create a new and perhaps competitive team. Every year there are a couple of teams that struggle for players night in and night out. Why hold back a team that has a full roster but can't get in the league? Just a thought to ponder as the league meeting approaches.

Dennis, I think you present a really interesting dilemma. We found ourselves in the same spot all those years ago in 1978 when we joined. We had to wait for a team to drop out (Ronan Paints)and we were lucky enough to get a team in the league. The big difference today seems to be that there are always a few teams looking for players and I'm pretty sure that any guy looking to get on a team can find a roster spot. Years ago, it was a bit of a different story. The thing that hasn't changed ove my 30 years is that guys want to play on teams with their friends. I think it is of utmost importance that guys from our community who want to play should be able to hook on with a team. That is really the main reason we posted here to get the word out. So, even if there are groups of 3-5 guys interested in joining we would certainly be interested in talking with them. If we wouldn't be hurting exisiting teams, maybe the league should consider expanding to 11 if there is a group looking to get in. You make a really good point and I think it should be a topic at the next meeting.
Thanks, Tom
