| Softball Canada publishes an 'Umpire Casebook', which is an excellent resource for learning some of the subtleties of the rules and approved interpretations. These are updated every other year (as are the rule books).
Casebooks are available through Softball Alberta (aka Alberta Amateur Softall Association), which has an office in south Edmonton. But Softball Canada also has it available in PDF format on their website:
http://www.softball.ca/usr/documents/files/1413/casebookforweb2007.pdf
Note that it's 211 pages, so it may take awhile to download.

| Softball Canada has completely restructured (and butchered) their website this past spring, so the link above to the casebook no longer works.
Currently, it can be found at:
http://softball-ca.sitepreview.ca/files///CASEBOOKFORWEB2007.PDF
But that seems like a temporary web page, so it may not work indefinitely.
