Bulls and Bengals put on a display of pitching and defense in their split of the weekend series.

Game 1 saw Jamie Kozak take to the mound for his first start of the year. He did not dissapoint pitching a complete game shutout while K'ing 7 along the way. Leyland gunned out one run at the plate on a close (read -- wrong) call. The Bulls were equally stifled on offense by Kibsey who despite giving up 8 walks, allowed no hits in the first 6 innings. A key play in the 2nd when with the bases loaded and one out, Lord grounded into a double play where the ump made a questions (read -- wrong) call on the second baseman being in the vicinity (read -- vicinity = 3 feet away)

Nevertheles in the bottom of the 7th. Guy led off with a walk. Moose looked to sacrifice, but wound up with a basehit. Pitman sacrificed to put runners and 2nd and 3rd with one out. The Bengals elected to try and walk Swagers (with Conlon on deck who had earlier missed a towering homerun by about 6 inches foul). The first pitch of Swagers intentional walk hit the dirt and got past the catcher allowing Guy to score. Bulls win 1-0. There were zero errors in the game and some outstanding defense by Guy, Swagers, McKnight and Langford in the infield.

Game 2 was Conlon's first start against Menezes for the Bengals. He pitched a solid game making only two mistakes, one of them being a wall scraping one run homerun to DaCosta in the 4th to make it 2-0. Willits cut lead in half with an RBI single, but the Bulls were unable to get anymore. They stranded 10 runners which was the difference in the game. Swagers pitched a scoreless 7th to hold the Bengals. Defense was sparkling on both sides once again. With bases loaded and on out, Guy makes a diving play down the line, touches 3rd and fires across the diamond to end the inning. Final score, Bengals 2 Bulls 1.

Two good close games and always fun to play the Bengals who the Bulls now have a 4-1 OSBA record against (3-1 regular season)

Bulls next take on the Stars in two weeks in what will be a rematch of last years West championship series.

The Play by Guy was one of the best plays I have seen in a really long time. Theres nothing you can do but just tip your cap to him.

Great games guys, always love playing against you. I think your only weekness is Brad Guy in the infield. You might want to think about making him a DH or something....His shaking fielding skills are really holding you back lol.

Garrett - I didn't saw it was a past ball, i just said it got past you!

Nice writeup on your webpage guys and a hell of a game by Kibsey, but Moose reaching base in 7th was an infield single and not an error.

Yeah im just giving you a hard time ;)

and as for the bunt. I think that since it was meant to be a sacrifice it still might count as an 0 for 1 at bad, but i am not 100% sure either way.
It really doesn't matter, good game guys.
