Any truth to the rumor that Edge are using ineligible players?

Who and what makes them ineligible?

Why would they be ineligible? Don't post a rumor unless you have some facts, especially at this time of the season.

Not making enough league games. I believe you have to play in at least 4.

Kind of hard to post a rumor if you have the facts. Isn't that what makes it a rumor?

Who are the players supposedly ineligible?

Each team keeps book of who gets in the games. I'm sure it can be sorted out very easily.

Stu99, where did you hear the rumor? Or is this just stirring up the pot after a boring forum lately?

How is that information tracked during the season? Is the info submitted to the commissioner, or is it just based on word?

This site allows teams to enter game info such as games started, games played, etc. Info is then public information and can be viewed by anyone.

This would prevent any question of how many league games have been played by said player(s).

Jim-

Is there anyway (not that you can force teams), to push teams from all leagues to enter scores, stats, and as you mentioned league games played.

I think this can only help grow awareness of amateur baseball (especially the Class A side of things).

Good luck getting that to happen, some of the teams have a hard enough time just posting a score on the site.

BS22... Agreed, but I know quite a few times that don't even know about this website and what it can do for teams, fans, and people unaware of good baseball during the summer.

If each team took a name on League Lineup it would make things more enjoyable to see who is doing what, what games are played and where. It could only help, not hurt.

SharkBite -

Well, it's really going to have to come from the league commissioners to "encourage" teams to do so. Perhaps making it mandatory would help eliminate some of the headaches associated with the position.

It would be great if at least one of the four leagues did it for the 2008 season, and perhaps share any pros or cons to doing so.

I currently play in a 35+ league in which we use a LeagueLineup site such as this one (leaguelineup.com/federal35). There are 10 teams in the league and each team has been very good about entering rosters and game stats. The fun part about the game stats is that viewers can then track league leaders in almost every catagory (we don't enter fielding statistics), making for an even more interesting season.

I think if the Skyline League teams would take the lead for 2008 and enter game stats, we'd finally know how good Ryan Naughton really is.

Personally, I'm interested to know who the top 10 batters are for each league, or who has the best ERA, who has the most doubles, stolen bases, etc.

Jim-

I absolutely agree. I would like to see who the league leaders of each league would be whether it's pitching or hitting. I know the Shark (until late) have been updating a lot of stats.

The two negatives that I know about with League Lineup is that it can be time consuming to put in stats and that it seperates League/Non-League stats. However, taking 30 minutes to enter the information, if even takes that long, would be well worth it.

The more people become aware of this site, the more people will become interested in Class A baseball.

I'd recommend only entering league stats.

As I'm setting up the State Tournament info on this site, my plans are for each team (or an official scorer) to enter in the book after each game.

It will only work if everyone is on board. I don't care if a fan enters the book info, as long as it's entered.

Back the Edge controversy, how can Edge have problems qualifying when they only have 10 players?

Cretin teams have always pulled stuff, back to having the Heather kid pitch a playoff game between starts with the Duluth Dukes. What a bunch of gems...

Let's let the commissioner get to the bottom of this instead of throwing barbs on the forum.

In terms of making this site more well-known, would it be possible to change the URL to something easier, like www.mnclassabaseball.com or something like that? I have no idea how you would do that. Or at least make the weblink on the www.minnesotabaseball.org a little more visible?

You could make a nice domain name. Or you can do www.leaguelineup.com/ClassA

There are a million ways you can do it. But the first hurdle is getting teams to do it. It would make a better all around experience.

Nobody's illegal. I can't imagine Ray doing anything intentional...ever! Do you really think Bob Smith has time to investigate this? If it substantiated that's one thing, but how 'bout we move on.

The Shark website is nearly current again, only 2 games are missing because they are in the old book which I have to find....
