Stillwater threw their ace and he pitched great. Wesley opted against throwing either of their top 2. Was it a mistake? That remains to be seen.

Well considering that Wesley will now have an extra game to play and will waste a pitcher because of it as well as the fact that if they make the finals they have no room for error as they already have a loss, I'd have to say that it doesn't look smart to keep your best pitchers in the dugout.

Great job Loggers! Keep having fun and best of luck!

Finally, a skyline team living up to expectations, nice job Loggers, way to represent.
Although I will say, for the record, they aren't a great hitting team. They definitely pitch and field well, but offensively they are very patient/opportunisitc and depend on walks, bunts, and errors to score.
Evidence? In the 2 games we (Green Mill) lost to Stillwater (scores: 4-3 and 10-8) they scored 14 runs on 11 hits, 7 errors, and 16 walks. In those games we scored 11 runs on 20 hits, with 9 walks, and 2 Stillwater errors.
I don't post this as a slight to Stillwater, they're 2-1 against us this year, the league regular season and playoff champs, and are still playing while we're done. Just my opinion of their offense.

With that said, I'd love nothing more than for Stillwater to nip Minnetonka. Looks like they played them close in the Austin tournament earlier this year, eventually losing 7-2.

Good luck guys!

There must of been imposters in Stillwater's line-up Wed night then, because the guys that night hit the ball pretty damn well in my opinion. Went with outside pitches and were patient. Since when does not swinging at balls make you a bad hitter? I don't care if it was Wes. Homes #3 pitcher. 11 runs in a state touney, they hit the ball, period.
And a side note, they are a young team, I did not hear any crap from their dugout all night. A class act. Good luck guys!!!!! Tim from Saints

The thing is with Stillwater, when other teams make errors they capitalize. Green Mill for example - 7 errors. I find it ironic that when 1 skyline team makes it deep in the playoffs, another team (who is a home by the way) is doggin there offense.

Good luck Loggers!

Are people not reading my post and just responding because they like high-school-girl drama?? A lot of Brewers and Loggers are friends off the field so its not going to work guys.

Tim,
You and I used the same word to describe the Logger hitters: Patient.
You put up 11 runs on Wesley and the teams people think of teams that mash: the Parks, Angels, Millers of Class A. Not teams that take walks. Please point out to me where I said "Not swinging at balls makes you a bad hitter."

OJS,
Did you even read my post? Where in my post did I describe the Logger hitters as bad? I said they weren't great and they're not. They're not going to outslug anyone and they know that. They're going to beat you with their good pitching and defense and timely hitting.
Pretty sure in my post I pointed out that they beat us twice, were the Skyline league champs, and wished them luck against Tonka, so I don't see where I dogged them.

Here is the point I was getting at:
Everyone was assuming the Wesley - Stillwater score was going to be Wesley 6 Stillwater 0 with Wesley no hitting the Loggers. But when Stillwater put up 11 runs people were probably wondering how Tony Konicek, Mike Carrell, Chris Johnson, and Joe Shallenberg were playing for Stillwater instead of their regular squads. Truth of the matter is (at least according to Wesley's website), Stillwater got walked 10 times and Wesley had 5 wild pitches in the game.

If you're looking for a bunch of 3 run, 450ft jacks, then you're going to be dissapointed watching a Logger game. But if you want to see a team take advantage of other team's miscues, bunt, hit behind runners, and drive in 2 out RBIs, then you'll love a Logger game.

I'll end this post just like I ended my first:
Good luck Loggers

Bad/not good hitting implied by your comment of they get alot walks and that's how they score. I'm just saying it's hard to be a good hitter if you swing at alot of crappy pitches. Just because you walk alot doesn't mean you suck at hitting. Barry Bonds walks alot, but hits pretty well. Anyway, don't take my comments too serious, I hate the whiny drama as well. I only saw the Loggers play that 1 game, but liked what I saw, especially for a younger team with wood bats.
I hope they get walked 20 times versus the Millers. Keep being patient guys!!!!! Tim

hitting behind runners, pateince, bunting, stealing a base and playing good defense is good baseball. That is how teams win. I agree with you squanto, Stillwater does not have a lot of pop. But they sure know how to play the game the right way and win.
