| Quick bit of reality here. The Cards are missing their ENTIRE pitching staff. Not 1, not 2, but their entire staff from last year.
If Carpenter doesn't get hurt, you add 12-14 wins over Reyes. That's a no brainer. This race isn't even close if that's the case.
Enjoy your year of making the playoffs. Lord knows you people are jealous as can be of us. After your 4 game loss in the division series, let us know how things are goin.

| Here we go again! Its understood Cubs fans hate the Cardinals and vise versa. That being said, Cubs fans are loyal no matter what. Alot of the Cardinal fans quit wearing their stuff when they start losing. Not everyone but most of you. Cubs fans sport their gear no matter what. Dan, you bring up Carpenter. Please. Give me a healthy Prior and Wood and we are talking about 4 straight league titles for the Cubs. But if my mom had balls she would have been my dad. Just my $.02

But, you have no proof that if Prior and Wood wouldn't have got hurt that you'd have been in the playoffs. You've made it like 3 times in the past 50 years. Cards have made it 3 times in the past 3 years.

| isn't it funny that cub fans celebrate being in first place and/or making the playoffs like everyone else winning the world series? i guess they dont know what late october ball feels like. (and how could they, 1945 was the last time they were there) all i have heard is "yeah we are in first" dont forget you are only 5 games over 500 in the worst division in the league. any team making it out of the central this year won't get passed the first round. 300 million well spent though.

you need to remember that the cardinals came out of that same crappy division last year. also last year which i have heard all about for this whole season the cardinals were picked to get swept in the division series, nlcs, and the world series....thats why its baseball...any team that makes the playoffs can get hott and win...the cubs arent even there yet, but its looking better every day...so why do all cardinal fans have to hate on cubs fans because we are enjoying this years success and beating the arch rival cardinals 3 out of 4 in stl in one of the most crucial series' all year.....go cubs!

| not to make any excuses, the cards are sucking lately. but read dan's post in here about the pitching and then look at the fact that pujols, molina, and edmonds are the only regular starters that are playing still today from last year. injuries happen and that's life and i not making excuses for them. but to blow 300 million on an average season is not smart. don't forget im throwing a "Century of Losing Party" in october of 2008. any cub fan will be the guest of honor. we can here all about the goat, bartman, corkey (sosa), how dusty baker was the savior, now how pinella is the savior, harry carry drunken calls, ryne sandberg being the best second basman ever (please) ...the list goes on and on. cardinals got throught the playoffs last year cause of pitching. zambrano is doing real good since that contract signing. 15-12 isn't going to get him a cy young this year. so there's one guarantee he screwed up...come october he will have another one screwed up

A cardinals fan is yet to get on here and start a thread about how much we hate the cubs or how much they suck etc etc. In my time of being on this board i've never seen anything close to that. What i do see everytime the cubs over the cards someone on here talking crap as if its news to the world that the cardinals arent a great team this year. Wow cubbies u beat a below .500 team and u brag about it all the time. In a way congrats but in another way its pretty sad. Just go ahead and look at who started the thread what was said and then u'll see cardinal fans not attackin the cubbies but defending our own sucess. If u see it any other way then im sorry. Like i said call me when u win a championship please cub fans call me when u win a championship sometime this centruy cause u still have no room to talk.

as far as hating goes...oh, well...and as far as whoopin up on the below .500 team, we've been doin it to the Cards for the past couple years...
Now that all you Card fans around here are hating on the Cubs crying about injuries, but you forget, that for the last few years the Cubs have been riddled with injuries...so what! its part of the game, we won, you lost, we have a chance, you don't...deal with it...
Don't hate, congratulate!
I was in St. Louis this weekend, and at the end of the 2nd game of the double header that the Cubs lost, most all of the Card fans were humble even in victory... a couple even shook my hand and said good luck in the postseason...now thats sportsmanship! gave me a new outlook on Cards fans...

| last time i checked i wrote to mr burd....we give each other shit about baseball usually at every game we play since we are on the same team...i never said anything about cardinal fans talking crap about the cubs....its the cubs cards rivarly and we live in southern illinois...u better be willing to take crap either way....i guess since we are from the worst division in the NL we should probably quit cheering for our team and concede that they wont do anything in the playoffs....no because thats not what a TRUE fan does....i dont care if we get swept, but you know what we came from 10 1/2 games back at the break to make baseball very fun to watch in the central...go cubs

| Oh yeah who cares about the past who cares about stats. Rodan are u serious? Baseball is a game that relishes in its own past and stats. U know im not gonna get on here and talk bad about the cubs cause they might win the central and if they do then congrats to them. However i will say that if they dont stay hot then there gonna have a tuff time of things to come there road is gonna be pretty diffcult. I wouldnt be suprised to see them gone in the first round after all they can barley hold on to a lead in baseballs worst division where as the other teams in the N.L. are all around better clubs. The Cardinals did it last year and won the series so maybe the cubs can do it but there the cubs and once things start going south they'll start blaming the fans or some random animal anything but there own crappy play again. Its the same ol song and dance the only difference is this year it will happen in October. Well good luck Cubbies if you get in. God knows you will need it.

| Like their not going to get in. You are full of it. The fact is we allready got as many wins as you did last year. If you go far enough in every teams past, they all have their chokes. I know because the cardinals one the world series last year that the cardinal fans know everything about baseball. Here is a fun fact for you. Mets have 87 wins, arizona has 88, and the cubs have 83. Oh my god look at the massive difference. God I hope the cubs can even hold these teams jocks. With such a massive difference the cubs should just forfeit. Sounds stupid does'nt it, because it is. The cubs are just as good a team as anyone in the national league, and as of today 9 1/2 times better than the cardinals. It still kills me to watch all the cardinal fan post's. Just about everyone of them starts of with a fake congratulations to the cubs and talk about how their not gonna mouth the cubs. And then dirrectly start mouthing about how their gonna be one and done. All I can say is put money were mouth is. I'll take any reasonable bet that they we'll get past the first round. I'm sure their will be a million posts mouthing me here in a few, but I don't care. The truth is the truth. All i can say is I don't care how much money we spend, how long its been since we won. All I care about is winning a world series, and hopefully winning it soon. If not this year, well than as the saying goes "Wait Till Next Year".

| Love the rivalry...and the heartbreak of this season. Yes I AM a Cardinals fan and always will be. But lets all face it...the Cub's are sports greatest example of the modern day Choke Artist! Blame whatever you will, but history and years of stats support this. I wish the best of luck to the "other" team in their quest of braking the curse (cause I know they are sure gonna need it!)

| I have 50 on the first series that was the original bet. If your so sure of winning it, then man up. You keep trying to find out clauses for when you use lose the original bet. Your the one who come o here about how it was a 1 and done situation. If the cubs lose I promise I'll pay. Theirs not a team in baseball that I will take a bet all the way to the World Series. The odds are against all of them making it. Is it a bet or not. But I will take a 1908 series shirt, if you can get me one.
