With two weeks remaining in the 07' regular season the OAA Red vs. White crossover record is 5 - 2 in favor of the Red Division. The last two crossover contests are Clarkston/Harrison and Royal Oak/Farmington. These two games the Red Division teams would be favored to win. Assuming they win the games, the overall record of Red vs. White would be 7 wins and 2 losses. Additionally, looking at the two losses (Orion to Adams in week three and a 1 point loss by Lasher to Lathrup) the Red Division appears to have a competitive edge. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that the White Division does not have quality teams; I am saying that this year the facts indicate that the Red Division clearly has a competitive edge over the White Division.

I'll agree with the majority of your comment... the match ups have favored the Red this season, which does average about 600 more students per school than the White.

In my opinion, "crossing over" against much larger schools can only benefit playoff teams from the White. Red playoff teams can expect to face the consequence during the playoffs, which happens year in and year out with the big OAA schools. White teams such as Adams and Harrison go on to win state titles.

So enjoy your bragging rights Red... they're generally very short lived.

Unless... the loss from a Red team costs a White team a playoff spot, which of course happens as well. Then any benefit is solely that of Red teams.

Come on now! Are you suggesting that Adam's and Harrison have playoff runs because they play bigger schools during the regular season? Perhaps its been open enrollment and football tech classes during the school year that has played a bigger role in thier success. Besides there are large enrollment schools in all three divisions of the OAA that has not translated in to a tradition of success.

Of course there are plenty of exceptions to the big school = big roster formula, but, yes... that is generally the rule in Michigan HS football.

I generally agree with much of what you have to say but imo you're views of White against Red is a bit ridged.

The match ups could and should have been presented better. Waiting until week 8 and matching seed 1 vs seed 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3... instead of Oak Park vs winless North Farmington, 0-8 Farmington against Royal Oak, West Bloomfield vs Birmingham Groves, one win Bloomfield Hills Lahser against Southfield Lathrup then they see Andover for pete sake.
