| Since I already received a phone call and 2 emails about my plans for this season I will address them before the rumors start running wild. I have accepted a new position at work. I will be working 12 hour overnight shifts Saturday – Monday nights. This will put a lot more money in my pocket as my company pays a shift bonus, and I only have to work 3 days. Clearly this will have a major impact on softball as I will rarely make a Sunday game. However I am still on the PNA roster and will attempt to make enough games to qualify for playoffs.
My wife wanted me to make sure I let everyone know that it is not her fault (yet) that I will not be playing. If I don’t play in 2009 and beyond then that probably means “THE WIFE” has emerged and my life is over.

| Ryno sorry to hear that. Was looking forward to playing with\against you now that I moved back. Glad to hear about the job for you though and you will be missed out there on Sunday's.

| Translation:
Fueled by years of nothing but a steady supply of Pepsi and generic cigarettes, Ryno is shocked and appalled by the precipitous decline in his softball ability. Not willing to risk further humiliation, he takes the opportunity to walk away from softball away while still managing to cling onto some modicum of respect. All the while he knows he has saved himself from a sub .400 season and the cutting insults of friends and competitors alike who can only laugh scornfully at the man they once feared.
Can you at least make the Botelho's game next year? I'd like to face off against you at least once in this league before I hang them up.

| As a man with no job to speak of I didn't expect you to understand. If you pitch to me I will put you into retirement.

| Thanks CK. Deen Guapo that's how you wish a guy well with class.
I'll still be around some but it's tough to get out at 7:00. Play at 10:00. Finish around 1:00. Get home at 2:00. Then leave at 6:00 to go back to work.

| I was supposed t be a joke Ryno. Sorry if you took it seriously. You should know that 90% of what comes out of my mouth is meant to be taken in jest. I wished you well on the phone a couple of days ago. I've asked you play on pretty much every team I've been on since Contech so you should know I still think you can rake it.

| I know it was a joke. Don't get defenseive. We have played together long enough that I know you think I am/was a good player. And back in the Contech days I could hold my own in the parking lot boozing.

| ...and Ryno let's not forget that I am a part time plastic toy brick assembler, part time server of distilled products, and full time real estate magnate. You don't want to give some people the wrong idea about me do you?
Lastly, the only reason why I wouldn't pitch to you is because you cannot control your swing. Do I have to mention the time you made our back up pitcher attend the team steak fry with softball stitches on his forehead from an errant batting practice line drive? Way to light up a teammate in BP!
Note: Broad smiling face included to show humor was intended although not necessarily achieved.

| Actually bringing back memories of the stitch marks was funny enough. Poor bastard got hit every game and then I tagged him in BP.
Ok I don't know about the full time real estate thing. I would say you are a dabbler. But you do serve adult beverages and assemble toys. So now I may officially work less days than you do.

| Ryno,
Sorry to hear of your semi-retirement. I was looking forward to facing off against you this year. As a person who has works 13 hour night shifts for 12 years I know what you are going thru. I find those sundays get harder and harder every year but it's a bit easier on me because it's only every other sunday and i just deprive myself of sleep (not to mention it's about a 10 minute ride from the furthest field to my house. I hope you find a way to get off that shit shift and get back to being able to make it there on sundays.
