| because the poll is not accurate because you can vote 2000 times if you want, i thought maybe a discussion would be more worthwhile.
i want to play that weekend. the way i see it, everyone has friday off for the parties and bbqs and drinking. same goes for saturday. then sunday return to normalcy and play ball (America's Pastime on the country's birthday weekend) then more drinking
playing thru would be 4/27 - 8/3 playoffs August 10, 17, 24
so we'd finish before labor day 9/1, a couple of rainouts pushes the championship/playoffs into labor day
july 4 off would be 4/27 - 8/10 playoffs August 17, 24, 31 (labor day weekend)
so there would be 2 weeks before the championship or with a couple of rainouts, it would be the middle of the playoffs
so another question comes up...what about labor day?

| Heres a suggestion cut the season back two weeks and take them both off . Balance the schedule and make every team make the playoffs in a double elimination tournament 5 weeks should be plentey of time to complete the playoffs . During the season say the team 1st and 2nd didnt play 15th and 16th . Nothing against CCfire and the stallions but our game are not even close . So teams would get two holliday weekends off and the better teams wouldnt have to play two of the worst and vice versa . And it also makes it harder on the top two teams to have the best record again year after year .And you would have two weekends if the team chooses to make games up .
Smitty didnt you make up a playoff tournament proposal last year or the year before . With the incentive of everyone making the playoffs i think we could GETTTEEEEERRRR DOOOOOONNNNNNEE !!!!! Im against it if everyone doesnt make the playoffs and we dont take the hollidays off . Are season is way to long with no breaks at all .

| We are here to play softball. We all know you have a GREAT team. Did you ever think that when you play the lower teams, they might learn some stuff so that in the upcoming years the score can be closer and maybe they will actually beat you?

| Did you ever think that on those weeks the better teams dont even feel like showing up,and usually have most guys use that week to take off. If you want to learn get an instructional video ad save us 2 hrs of boredom

| the schedule is what it is. i don't think it can be changed for this year and i don't think it needs to be. unless we have rain the season won't even reach labor day.
also, a lot of people forget where they came from. i was on the worst team in the league the first 2 years i played and if i didn't get on that team i wouldn't even know softball existed. that got me into everything else i do now. i like seeing ALL of the teams.
jrs was gem and no one on that team was outstanding when you started. many of you are now, but its because you played the pna and kim hollys and the hustlers and got your ass handed to you so you learned.
also, the 15 weeks is too long for those of us that play 2 nights a week and tournaments. but MOST of the league doesn't and for those guys 15 weeks and 30 games is not enough.

| for example, i didn't know double tagging existed until i threw into second base and the guy running ran right thru it and into third safely. from then on i threw ahead of the runner....sometimes too far and over the fence, off poles, etc, and running the bases try to double tag every time.
never would have known that part of the game unless i was on the field when it happened.

| i disagree we beat the stallions 22-5 and 24-2, we beat ccfire 13-4 and 16-4 I lead off and played short seriously . They gain and learned nothing . Against CC we hit balls that woulda been Hrs and took one base at a time . For the bottom 8 they are only losing 2 games and thats if the go 0 and 2 if they win a game then it would be less . With the format i said every team would play at least 28 games with 2 being playoff games which they would learn what its like to be in the playoffs .We allways took 4th of july off when it was on a weekend or fell on friday or monday .The season could really end earlier and the holiday weekend teams would be free .

We were almost .500 & the next year made the playoffs. A far cry from the teams artie and I are referring to. That first year was the only year In 10 that ive been in the league and didnt make the playoffs. I started with the Hustlers not jrs. Getting back to my point the
gem/jrs guys didnt get better from taking weekly beatings, and neither did you.

| and with 16 teams in the tournament 1 plays 16 so one of those two games and the taste of the playoffs will be another shallacking and allowing everyone into the playoffs really makes 13 weeks too long because whats the point...we're all in the playoffs. the tourny i proposed was top 8 or 10 or 12
and ant like you said players take those weeks off so it allows the players on your team that don't get all the time a chance to play more and get better. and try new positions whether its as a joke or not.
im just saying we offer a place for people that don't play softball to play and that exposes people to more softball sometimes even entire teams get into it. look at harris and crowe bar they just wanted something to do and some way to add competition to their life and now they play tournaments and have better teams.
i know not every team improves but there needs to be a balance of competition and enjoyment we compete and they enjoy playing

| i say play on sunday of the fourth, wyld stallions suck so does ccfire and who cares they just want to play softball and if they want to learn something they should go to japan with the bad news bears and see if they can pick up that kelly kid who rode the motorcycle and smoked butts at13 then at least they could learn how to ride motorcycles. the schedule is fine smitty and play the fourth.

| Thanks for that statement Lags. I have a lot of newbees on my team and it helps when we play against better teams. I have a bunch of seasoned players too but we all want to have fun. I want to play vfw and the firefighters. They are all good guys. If you want to do it Artie's way, then the league should be split in 2 halves and have 2 seperate teirs.

| I totally have to agree with you Smitty! Before I was married I was playing on 2 or 3 different teams sometimes 4 nights a week then on Sunday mornings in Burrilville and yeah halfway through the summer it seemed to long! Those days are gone for guys like me. A wife and 2 kids and all I look forward to every year is the Sundays I get out of the house for a few hours to play some ball with my friends and good players! This league is by far the best league I have ever played in and all the reason I drive 45 minutes every Sunday to get there! Double header every Sunday! Trust me I still envy you guys who are still able to play 4-5 times a week. My guess is most are not married with kids but hey Props to you if you are or not! I wish I could still do it! I like the way it is. Very competetive. Now instead of 2-3 teams dominating every year I have noticed it is slowly growing to 6-7 or maybe even 8-9 this year? Hmm I wonder if the suggestion of all the teams making the playoffs is in spite of fear of not making them now?? There was a nice logjam last year and it may very well happen again this year! That's the point of competition. Play your best all year long to be fortunate to make it to the playoffs, not get a few guys swings here and there and then bring them all in come playoffs! Just my opinion! I say keep it the way it is and lets get it started!!

| holla thats what im talking about two divisions . shorten the season and not play on the fourth and memorial day weekend and everyone makes the playoffs . Smitty as you know if you lose your first you end up in the losers bracket and maybe you play a not so good team and id rather get pumped by the DUB in the plaoffs than the regular season if i get two holliday weekends . Or give the top four byes . 33 weekends in a row is way to long and its got nothing to do with playing tournaments or weekdays . 33 weeks is more than half the year . guys have weddings ,birthday parties and a bunch of other stuff going on . ive missed my family cookout three years now because we played on the weekend of the fourth . We have nothing on the prata that week at all it would be nice to have a break in the middle of the season to have a life on Sunday . Im calling Kate right now .
Littleguy its just about the same amount of games per team. I just prefer not wasting a 4 day holliday weekend playing on Sunday . Again we have never as a league played when the holliday was so close to the weekend . I only mentioned the every team in the playoffs format because it would equal the total amount of games played per season . Hey little guys I will take 100 to 1 odds the two teams talking here are in the playoffs . PNA and VDUB will be in the playoffs !!

| last year was the first year we played straight thru because it was on wednesday. im not saying we have to play im just saying I want to. thats why the discussion started.
i know when we took a week off one year it was tuesday and on sunday everyone i talked to said i wish we are playing there is nothing to do.....so i thought we could discuss it

| Yo EW as TEAM its not a good weekend for us , i know that you , Johnstone , and Goat would be there in a friggin hurricane but three or four guys have already said they have plans that weekend . Im going to Sox vs Yankees in NY . But from what i know of our team guys make plans for that weekend . Its one weekend for christ sake maybe you guys can have an allstar game or il find ya a tourney to play in if you really cant take one week off . | Lawman thats the point alot of teams are gonna have the same problem . If we cant feild a team i know that moulton is a team that wants to play us and will problably reschedule if they dont and we dont have enough oh well ill throw in the $100 . We have never played on the 4th weekend until last year when it fell in the middle of the week . Yes we are gonna have a hard tim feilding a team but we are not the only one . ive talked to at least three other coaches who think its a good idea to take the fourth off . I think you play with mert right , alot of guys get switches to play , How many guys are gonna wanna make those switches on a holiday weekend .Maybe im wrong . If it were in the middle of the week i would understand but its friday and every other league is shutting it down that week end .

| Joe Mama, no lawnman doesn't play for me...at least I don't think he does, not sure who he is. Like you said alot of my guys do switches to play but it shouldn't be too much of a problem, at least I hope it isn't. When we do regular switches like we do, it's par for the course when we speak about doing switches on the holiday weekend.
I think it would be prudent for all managers to talk to their teams and see how many guys would have a problem playing that weekend and take that information to the meeting with them and vote accordingly.

| EMART whats up guy ? I think all the managers need to talk to every player . Some come on this board some don't . I know Ant is for not playing on the fourth . As with our team one or two guys will wanna play but in general alot of guys will have something going on . Its the third most traveled weekend in the country.

| i have a new idea....what if we schedule july 6 with no games.
however if we have two rainouts before that date we play the first rainout on july 6.
we should have 10 of 15 weeks done by july 6 but if we have two rainouts we would have 8 of 15 done.
so we could make one up on the 6th to alleviate some problems in august/september since there would be 7 weeks of season left to possibly be rained out.
