| I'm sick of hearing " once a week motherfucker" Smitty, maybe I play once a week NOW, but I've been there done that!! Iv'e been to the A worlds 3 times, won the States 5 times, and traveled every freakin holiday!! Yes, I said A worlds not D worlds!! I just choose not to play that much any more! I could play 50 and over and be the young stud again, but choose not to!! This once a week motherfucker looks forward to kicking your ASS when we play you on sunday. Here's to BOTHELO'S not repeating!!!!!!!

| Fiskey, I think you missed something big guy. The "Once a week Mohterfucker" thing is just a running gag that came from me, not Smitty. It refers to Smitty actually arguing on behalf of all the guys who only play once a week as opposed to guys who play in multiple leagues. THis is actually the subject of my new Mertog that will be posted soon.
Ian has always stated for the record that the league is here for guys who can only play once a week and he, like me wants to keep it that way so that guys like you and I still have a place to play in our advanced years. Many of the guys on my team have been to the worlds and played in the states but now have a situation where they can only play here. Those are the types of guys I want on my team, whose committment is to this league first and foremost.
Go easy on Ian he isn't the bad guy in this situation. We once-a-week Mother fuckers have got to stick together!

| those words came out of my mouth one time...it was directed at my own guys which i regret and have apologized for....the unfortunate thing is it was against mertog so it hasn't died yet.
as ive said before i only know softball exists b/c of this league and like mark said its important it stays open to everyone of all ages, experience level, etc.
i don't know if that clears anything up, but like mark said...its become a joke that other people use

I can't even be a 'once a week MFer'. Damn life! Damn this job! Damn my wife! Damn responsibility! Damn commitment!
Its a town rec league ladies...relax! Or is it? I believe I posted a comment years ago that relates to this very subject.
PS...I take a lot of enjoyment in beating those softball junkies in a game that they take very seriously. I know there is some great talent and friends of mine out there in other more serious leagues that have a great deal of talent. I could list names on and on; but it always seems some tough guy gets rowdy in a league like this. I enjoy beating this individual; because, hey, at heart I wish I could spend time every night playing too; but if I get lucky and you show up in my rec league its like a target is on your back. I think this reaction of mine has something to due with testosterone or something. You see some of us are just here because its all we can get in. I've only played in the league a year and a half after being asked for the last 11 years. Why? Because I'm a busy person like everyone else! It must be nice to have a schedule that affords you the time to play all the time. Thank God for a league like this and what it offers to everyone trying to have fun without a burdensome commitment. Not those trying to become the next World Champ. Personally it kind of sucks when your team doesn't show up because they played so much that week. I speak for myself here; but there is a constant battle between my competitiveness by always wanting to be on the winner and my time commitment which can only allow me a Sunday when I hope all the guys show up. That's why you need league administration to prevent us from destroying our own league.
Prediction- As this league grows in popularity; particularly due to this site and the success of some of the players at the state level; there will be challenges. Administration for this league will need to be very careful what you are creating. Do you want a rec league or essentially a competitive farm system for tourney teams?
Any opinions from those that have been around a while????

And Randy this has nothing to do with your post, brother. I am just bored and I enjoy reading this site; as I am away from home again and bored out of my mind due to my latest injury laying me up for a while.

| Actually I can also post. I have played in the league for technically 3 years. First year broke my foot so missed the last half of the season. Next two years won two batting titles and the 4th year moved down to FL.
