For those of you who are playing in one of the wood bat games this year or even if you are not, at the bottom are some sites that I came across that I looked at pretty good before finally making my bat selection. The selection process started at several of the local big chain stores and some baseball catalogs. After seeing the same old same old I thought it would be nice to have something a little more special, something I could really call my own for the big day and possibly for the season. Yes, yours truly is gonna give wood a try. (keep the jokes to a minimum please) And what I found was eye opening in regards to looks, price and quality.

On average, your typical ASH bat was priced between $45-60. MAPLE, look for SUGAR or ROCK, I found to be around $65-80, but saw as high as $120 at a few places. And then BIRCH, which I selected, was somewhere in the middle between the ASH and MAPLE. Note, most sites had discounts or specials for multiple bat purchases of say 3 to 4 or more bats. You can browse the sites for more details. The one I chose was one of the "Three Pack Specials" from the Birch Bats Company. It came with free batting gloves and free personalization and choice of colors. Can you tell I'm just a little excited about breaking them out for game one.

Well here is the list I narrowed my search down to. Trust me, there are many many more, but these are the ones I felt had some nice bats and at decent cost. Happy hunting.
