| I was talking to some people and we were scratching are heads. Can someone explain to me what exactly all the league fees and player fees go to? The way I see it is 16 teams X 350 (sometimes 400) is 5600 and then 50 player fee and teams have at least 16 guys so that is 12800 for a grand total of 18400 and that is on the low end because a lot of teams roster 20 and some teams have to pay 400. I just want to know what all the money goes because this is a rec leaugue and I just don't understand why we make people who play once a week to have some fun and get out of the house 50 bucks. Maybe I am alone on this but I would liek to see player fees lowered for everyone.

| umpires: $23 a game two per game = $92/dbleheader double headers per week: 8 weeks: 15 cost of umpires: $11,040 (then add playoffs)
softballs needed: 60 dozen cost per dozen: $36 cost of balls: $2,160
insurance: i think $15 per team, 16 teams cost: $240
extras: trophies, paying helen, paying me, paying lawnman to cut club jogues
we lowered the league fee to $40 this year so if the all the rosters were maxed out to 21 it would be $13,440 plus everyone is returning teams so its all $350 which is $5,600
then we roll it over into fall ball where it is just a team fee not players
BUT REALLY KNIGHT: playing sunday mornings in coventry: PRICELESS

| also this is the first year with usssa which is saving us a lot of money. we elected to keep fees high for this year to see how it plays out rather than cut them and end up coming out in debt. if we have a huge surplus it will continue to roll forward and adjust costs next year

| There really isn't much wiggle room when you get down to it. League fees were lowered this year to 40.00 per player (down from 50.00), however it was discussed at the meeting and voted on about dropping it to 30.00, however we felt that (as Smitty said) we should ee how this year plays out before we do anything drastic.
With my team I kept the player fee at 50.00 so that things like lime, water, and other expenses don't come out of one pocket...namely mine.
The money left over from the season also helps pay for fall ball, the balls, the umps, as well as the banquet and the trophies and all the other little things such as that, which as singulary don't seem like much but cumulatively add up.

| Chris....to be honest I would love to see some things happen, namely a pre-season or end of season tournament that brings in more money to the league which would help out quite a bit.
Adding more teams, which was someone elses idea, actually means additional costs in as much as we would need more umps, more balls, etc...etc...but not one that I am opposed to next season. If we cold do more late games at Club, Hunters and Foster it may be workable.
But I think having tournaments is a good way to bring in new players to the league from other places, and generate revenue for whatever you guys believe it should be used on.
I would love to see a league fund raiser...steak fry etc...etc. Not only would it raise money but it gives everyone to be at one place at one time so everyone would get to meet each other.
Maybe Joques or PNA would like to do something like that...brings in cash for their bar but also makes money for the league, two birds...one stone so to speak.
Perhaps a steak fry/tournament at the end of the season at Joques or PNA. Teams play and in between or immediately after the tournament grab a steak and a brewski.
It could feesibly be done like 200.00 a team for the tournament and 25.00 a person for a steak fry ticket. All money raised from the tournament and steak fry would go to the league and the bar business would go exclusively to the Club. No coolers or outside beverages to be fair to the host club.
Two years ago I did a steak fry for the PUB, Old timers vs. the new team...we had players from Pub teams of the past come down and play against the kids on the team a present and we held a steak fry immediately after. Tons of people showed up with their families and kids and it was great. Old Timers won 27-25 and it was the best fund raiser we ever had to date.
Just an idea.

| Smitty & Mert, not everyone is into playing fall ball! Why ca'nt you treat that as a different league, have the fallball players pay their own player fees! Why should the summer league fund the fall league? You should take whatever surplus there is and put it towards the next summer league.

| Actually Fiskey, we actually do chargwe teams for putting a team in the league which pays for essentially most of the fees associated with it, however; at least that is my understanding of it. We have been seeing an increasing number of teams and players playing fall ball as of late and it seems that the majority of players do benefit from it.

| Mert, I feel they should be treated as two different entities, and a vote should be taken. I had a conversation with my summer league team and the majority of the players are not playing fall ball.

| FYI ..Warwick Sunday League fee is $600...and umpires are paid separately. $44 more per team every Sunday. Coventry calls is a player fee..but we could just as well charge one $1100 Team fee and let the teams figure out how they will come up with the money. Not every Team charges their players $50 each....Coventry is right in line with the other leagues....well, not taking into account what Artie skims......I notice he is driving a new SUV ....

| I don't like the league fundraiser idea. Why should I bust my ass to sell tickets when some other team does nothing and still reaps the rewards?
However if we decide to do it then I suggest turning the end of year banquet into a league fundraiser. But someone keep the microphone away from Baxter or they will never return for another one.

| Ryno, like you would actually bust your ass? You mean why should I have to buy all these fuckin tickets. That's what I end up doing every time. How the fuck am i supposed to sell tickets for grown men to raise money for ball. The people i work with would laugh in my face, as they should.

| Ernie, actually steak fry's usually do well. The last one we had I sold 60 tickets at work and the guys who I didn't ask were a bit pissed off that I didn't ask them and the ones who went keep haunting me about when the next one is! I see nothing wrong with selling steak fry tickets.

| I have one question what do we need more money for we already overcharge our players to play in the league ? The league made money last year i forgot the number but it was over $1500 i think . Im against the steak fry thing and if it is ever voted in it should start at the top of the seniority list and work its way down!! We atopped spreading the wealth a couple years ago , if this happens take care of the sponsors who have been around the longest .
