The track crew at Homestead RC Raceway have started preparations to freshen up the facility in anticipation of the FORGASS Race next month. The track is being freshly striped and track barriers are being freshly painted.

Tropical Storm Fay got in our way this Sunday and kept us from continuing to paint. Instead we were taking the tent tops off, removing banners/sign, securing the drivers stand, stowing away the garbage cans and picking up any loose items that could turn into missiles in high winds.

Now that Fay has passed the track crew is ready to move forward in getting the facility ready.

The staff at Homestead RC Raceway looks forward to providing all of you a great race track , secure pit area, ample parking, clean rest rooms, but most of all a super weekend of fair and competitive racing that meets all FORGASS standards.

The Homestead RC Raceway track crew has been busy. Everyone involved wants to make your visit with us a great time with fond memories.

The track has been freshly striped with white paint. The track barrier boards are getting a fresh coat of paint as well. Later in the week when we are finished with “Ike” the portable tents will be set up for Tech, tire truing, air compressor/body wash, and the engine tuning station.

A completely new registration and race management area is being added under the covered pit area for better communications with the racers. This is where you will register, heat sheets and results will be posted, and drivers meetings held. Possibly closed circuit TV showing timing and scoring may be available as well.

When you arrive at the track, wheeled dollies will be available for you to unload your racing equipment. Proceed to the large covered pit area and check in at Registration for instruction on where to set up your table and chair for your pit area.

The covered pit area is a quiet zone, no engines are to be started under the tent, please use the covered engine tuning station just outside of the tent.

Do not true tires in the covered pit area, please use the covered tire truing station just outside of the tent.

By order of the Fire Marshal there will be No Smoking under the covered pits.

A designated area with compressed air will be provided for cleaning cars.

The covered pit area has electricity. There are a limited number of outlets, so if you would like to take advantage of this you should bring a power strip and extension cord.

Multi-stall Men and Women Restrooms with flushing toilets, sinks for washing hands and paper towels are located within 50 yards of the covered pits.

If you would like to display a banner on the fence surrounding the track for this event or permanently display your banner on a yearly basis send an e-mail to homesteadrcraceway@yahoo.com with “BANNERS” as the subject.

The track will be open for practice on Friday from 1:00 PM until dark. The gates will open at 7:30 AM on Saturday with Open Practice starting at 8:00 AM. The gates will open at 7:30 AM on Sunday with Open Practice starting at 8:00 AM.

Homestead RC Raceway is looking forward to hosting the season opening FORGASS Race #1 on September 13, 14, 2008.

You can help Homestead RC Raceway with final preparations for the upcoming FORGASS Race this weekend. We will be having work parties on both Wednesday and Thursday afternoons/early evenings.

We need to get everything back in place now that Hurricane Ike has left the neighborhood. We can use your help with painting, moving and building tents, carpentry, good jokes and moral support.

Johnny and I will be at the track on both Wednesday and Thursday. We hope to see you there.
