| Patriot Oil took 2 from 'da Pub today(16-5 and 13-3). I think our team should be proud of HOW we won and not just that we won. We were flat as hell and didn't let it get us down. We strung together hits, moved runners around, and played good defense.
Highlights: late in game 2 with the game tied and us having (until that point) played horribly, we put some base hits together and got the bases loaded for Kirby.....who was then walked by the Pub (RWI?). The highlight there being Chris Rathbun hitting a grand slam to star the rally that helped us put the game out of reach. Also, DJ Watson (who would admit he's been inconsistent this season) hit ropes to the outfield and scored a run every time on base.
Hitting tip of the week: Turns out that Kirby " Kick em to the Kirb" Murphy bats with his fly down to help get his hips through his swing. He also said in an interview " it helps air out the balls and just feels really nice" . (Ryno, just so you know, I got the mother of all green lights from Kirby to right whatever I want. So stick it)

| Def a few guys missing from both sides...but...I havent played CM in a couple years and I forgot that they are terrific. Goodwin,,last time i played against him he nearly single handedly beat us in the Championship game. Ed Mac...as good a SS in the league..hits, fields..I fogot he was such a good hitter, and Knight gets plenty of press anyway..but...he is a better hitter than I even thought. He doesnt just mash to left..he hit singles to right, doubles to center. Great great hitter. On a day when sveral guys hit well..Considine had a HUGE 2nd game, Stevens 5-5, Mello the pitcher hit like 5 homeruns, I dont remember fiske making an out..I am going to fail to mention somebody..but..Doucette was unbelievable. Very disciplined. 9-10 if I am not mistaken. And just enough of the " screaming catcher" routine to keep us all entertained.

| I will have you know, Mert, that I am not the one who even noticed said wardrobe malfunction.
Anecdote: I am at my normal post during the time our team is hitting. That post being guarding Kirby's bat bag so no other softball player accidentally touches a bat and gets their stink on it. Kirby is walking to the plate and Chip " mooseknuckle sandwish" LaFazia is screaming for his attention. I ask Chip what he could possibly have to give as advice. Chip looks at me and gestures like he's zipping up his fly, which we all know he has no need for since a slight lift of either foot gives anyone within 50 feet the ability to tell what religion he is. Then it all becomes clear. Im not about to tell him its down for fear of him popping my head like a pimple. But he claims he does it all the time. Could be lying. Doesn't matter. I just know that next game I'll be flyin low. So to speak

| this season on " kirby idol" .....
your judges: chip, hodges, vernet your contestant: ryman
chip (all business): why do you want to be the next kirby idol? ryman: ummmm because he's great and i want to be great too.
hodges (the nice judge): that's nice. alright, have confidence and show us what you've got.
ryman proceeds to remove bat bag from car, place it on the ground and wait for someone he barely knows to run over, pick it up and carry it to the dugout. (chip and hodges smile, vernet just sits and watches)
then ryman moves on to the second part of his routine. batting.
he puts his gloves on like kirby. he unzips his fly like kirby. he takes the exact same amount of practice swings as kirby he gets in the box like kirby. (the judges are impressed) he tells the umpire he's ready like kirby he takes a pitch like kirby. he glares at the umpire like kirby. then it happens....he swings......it is unrecognizable, except for the higher pitched OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo like kirby the ball goes as high as kirbys.
the judges look to the fence, blinded momentarily by the sun and the swing they can't even see the ball like when kirby hit it. then they hear it. a soft thud coming from directly in front of them as the ball lands 2 feet in front of the pitcher.
ryman looks to the judges hoping they can ignore the results because everything else was perfect.
chip: alright, dude. i don't know man. i just don't think you're right for this competition.
hodges: awww sweety, you did really well. im going to say yes to the next round.
ryman, chip and hodges look to vernet for the deciding vote
vernet is sitting arms crossed on his chest. mouth dropped to the floor. eyes bugging out of his head. he is speechless. ryman is excited and hopeful.
vernet simply shakes his head no, too shocked and disgusted to speak.
ryman begins to beg and plead " i wanna be kirby, please, you have no idea how bad i want this."
he is escorted off the field in tears.
vernet finally speaks still shaking head no: i hope i never have to see that, or anything like it, ever again. what is he thinking? i hope for his sake kirby never sees that. i have to call kirby, he might need a restraining order. this kid is definately stalking him.

well i didnt even make it to the game this weekend but from what i hear A+ only had 9 and altho they hit well and scored a bunch of runs harris took care of them LOTS of triples heard that 3 and 4 batters had 2 homeruns each in one inning.
but on a lighter note, poor chris moulton and no im not talkin about the team im talkin about the man. so a bunch of del padre guys, harris guys and some c moulton guys head down to harris after the games and decide to drink for hours and hours on end during this time moulton is hopping around not using his crutch and just gettin really aggrivated cuz he cant play ( know the feeling it sucks) so he proceeds to try to challenge everyone freindly of course and while his gf was inside ( thank god she didnt witness this she wouldnt have let him live it down) lags' gf decides after 5 sangrias and a few beers she will take hime on so they go about wrestling and slap fighting all of a sudden out of no where DOWN GOES MOULTON, DOWN GOES MOULTON he was taken down to the ground by a 90 pound girl sorry moulton i thought u had the takedown in ya but then she just out muscled ya haha such a funny time. then knight decides its time for him to leave because he has been here for way to long tells everyone im gonna try and talk the wife into coming back here with me, we all look at him and say not a chance she is gonna 1 let u back out and 2 def isnt coming here, but of course the man beast comes strolling back in all changed up and with the wife way to show up knight haha

Long distance heckling has been my undoing two weeks in a row...Fiske from RF and RRaymond from the bar at Club Jogues the week before. On another matter, lets start mentioning Jeff Considine when we are talking about the best hitters in the league. Against the undefeated CM Construction Game 2 JC was 4-4 with 4 homeruns and 9 freaking rbi. The biggest games bring out the best in Jeff. Yes, he is enrolled in the Botelho Sports Peak Performance Program, but I am not taking all of the credit )

I actually can't wait to see Kirby hit in that little bandbox even thoguh we will be on the bad side of it. Joey Ash hit the roof of the building. That's the best I have seen there. | Ryman you cannot continue to worship multiple gods. At one time you were my mini-me. You loved my tantrums, bought a first base mitt, probably bought an Original Crush, and pretty much were my personal groupie. Now you seem to pray at the altar of Kirby, but you hint toward a Hodges man-crush, and then tell me I am the best Ryan. I am confused.
Let me share with you something about Hodges and the bond we have shared since childhood. 1982 Central Coventry Little League. McDonalds Red Sox Championship team. The cornerstone and cleanup hitter: Patriot Oil’s own Ryan Hodges. The all star stud and number 3 hitter: Former Coventry Softball superstar Joe Aschettino. The 10 year old part time left fielder: Current Crowe Bar hitting instructor, umpire critic, and comedic commentator Brian Aschettino. The 10 year old part time right fielder: Your's truly. Pretty good lineup there.
Yes I am reliving childhood glory because my adult life has not been nearly as fulfilling.

| I'll just give you a quick rundown, Ryno. Just to ease your confusion. When I started going to PNA games with Keith Perry a few years ago I was immediately hooked on the league from the talent level (first game I watched was PNA vs JR's). Then you got a throw in the dirt from Todd at 3rd and you couldn't come up with it. You then proceeded to lose it royally. Throwin your hat, your glove, your second baseman. Then you threw your glove in the trash which was brilliant. On top of all that you hit the shit out of the ball. I quickly became a fan.
As far as Kirby goes, anyone like myself who totally loves playing softball is gonna be in awe of the guy, and I don't see why I should be ashamed that I am. Im going to pick his brain and learn everything he's willing to teach me. He's as much a softball mentor as I've ever had.
Hodges is just my softball buddy. He got a kick out of how excited I seemed to play by my posts on here.
Hope this helps get rid of your confusion. You're still the man, and im still a big fan.

Which was great because he really opened me up to my inner alcoholic and how to be a multiple time fantasy football champion, but he did nothing for my power hitting.
I don't remember throwing my glove in the trash but that seems like something that I would do.
