I have spent the past several hours at the Class B/C tourney in Shakopee. Class A needs to either take notes or work with the board to get the tourneys combined. Taking in what the city of Mpls pulled this year, you guys need to work on this so the class A tourney isn't such an embarrassment in comparison.

Files, in reference to your comments about the B/C State Tournament we get no participation from the State Board, do not receive any budget assistance from the host cities, in fact pay a significant amount of money up front. We had it good when we were at Parade and then they raised the fee so that the field costs alone would have been more than $5,000. This happened two years ago, and since we have been trying to find a venue that is convenient for the players and the fans. Remember we don't get to pick from 100 plus locations from across the state we're pretty much dealt what's available.

This years tourney was the best I've seen put on by the host towns (Shakopee & Chaska) and it wasn't even close. But try traveling to the next three tournaments and see the 15 people in the stands. It's very convenient and easy when it's close in proximity, but it's nothing special when it moves out especially when the host teams aren't involved. Even when it's back in St. Cloud in 2012 it won't draw well, but 2009 in Arlington and Gaylord it will draw C fans and very little B.

We're all for a better tournament, but I certainly aren't embarrassed by our tourney. If we had 5-years to plan for a tournament instead of a few months things would look and be a lot different.

As far as joining with B, it's a possibility in the future, but to think I'll lose the entire summer to baseball now that I have a family would certainly be the end of my playing days. I have no desire to be playing on Labor Day, but that hasn't always been the case and if guys wanted to do so I'd support it.

I agree with Chris 100 percent...the players in Class A bust their butt out there and yet have to pay money most of the time from what I know. I thought Class A put on a very good tournament with the available resources and time allowed to put it all together.

And I know Class B/C can't do much about having games on the weekend, but man it must be nice to only have to throw 2, potentially 1 pitcher in the State tournament....Just talk to any team in Class A that has had to battle back through the loser's bracket.

I agree with you both-but you missed my point. Spoke with Bill Nelson Sat and he was in favor of combining the tourneys and working with the state board on getting Class A some support that hass not been there. Also I do believe other teams have issues (work, families, college kids) and do just fine. With just playing weekends you can afford to lose a pitcher. I feel it's worth the efforts of the commissioners to look into this.

Files, from what I understand there has been some discussion about combining A & B again for a couple years, but nothing real serious. Bill continues to be an advocate. I apologize if you felt attacked, that was not my intention.

I personally like our format with games during the week (impossible for B & C with travel distances) and not drafting players. I like the necessity to use more than one or two guys, you find out who has the best team not the best stud. Although the changes to the B tournament the last couple years has really improved this in my opinion. I really dislike that their first round is single elimination. It's a long route to get to the Tournament and to think it's over because you either had a bad day or ran into a buzz saw sucks in my opinion. I know they've thought about it some in Class A, but I don't think it will happen as long as we at least break even financially with our own tourney.

The losers bracket is definitely a tough road, but can be a lot of fun as you get to play a lot.

Great points. No issues, just wanted some discussion based on what I saw and was impressed with...

I am in favor of them combining the Classes but the same rules would apply for everyone. Everyone gets to draft 2 players. This would really mess up the tourney. Class A would NEVER lose....I also think CLASS A teams win without drafting.

Not everyone drafts guys it's up to the team. The option is always available.

I think the top teams are all pretty comparable.
