There's no doubt in my mind that Bob Botelho lives up to his name lb4lb! I lost count of how many homers he's hit against my teams the eight or so times we have played, my guess is over a dozen! I think it could be a combination of the (vitamins)haha he takes, his perfectly chiseled physique and maybe he's just a very good ball player trapped inside a pint size body! But in any case, if Bob Botelho was over six feet tall he would consistantly hit the ball over 350' and we wouldn't be talking about Kirby anymore!!!

No question between Club Joques and Washington Oak you must have an ample supply of spare softballs on hand or the games will be over very quick.

Here is a quick question for the powers that be...in several parts. First is it true that the Coventry girls softball league is having four 300'fields built...if so how did they procure the funds to do such a task and how do we go about doing the same or at least gain access to these fields on Sunday!

ant77..I know I know. I never take offense..on this string alone I have been called pint4pint and Richard Simmons. And we do have a lot of great sponsors in the league..including the self sponsored Wyld Stallions. Seriously though, who in their right mind would put their name on their shirts? Well, Victor Moffitt maybe, but other than that..........and I see that Mert is back...here is my take, Coventry has absolutley no interest in adult recreation..none, zero, zilch. Its all for the non-tax paying children. I cant see why would wouldnt be able to use the new fields..we are using girl fields now. And this is coming from a guy who loves hitting 265 ft homeruns. Lets get one of our brethren elected to some office and have just one agenda as his platform....SUNDAY MORNING SOFTBALL...300 foot fields with a 6 foot fence all around, infield dragged, dugouts, bathrooms open at 830 am and god damn clean, outfield grass neatly cut , shaded areas for the fans and the trees providing the shade grow Trump Balls than can picked like oranges when needed, and for those inclined to do so...bubblers with ice cold Coors Lite..in fact, the bubbler turns blue when the beer is jussst right. We can dream cant we fellas?

....quick disclaimer....nobody loves the Stallions more than I do. Rob Cote and Howie Cole will testify this is true. But I broke new ground back in March teasing the now banned but briefly famous Ryman and now I am having a little fun at the Stallions expense. but 18 wins in 3 years and absolutley no SMACK thrown their way..well, I just want them to feel the same kind of warmth and love that I feel when I see a Hinske post calling me mini-hinske, or oz4oz..or Ryno calling me 1evry4...any letters of complaint should be directed to Ian Smith..a former Victor Moffiteer

Gopher as far as i know the Coventry Girls Softball League is building the new fields off of Harkney Hill all this is being done at their own expense hence the reason the project has stalled. They have run out of money. I beleive all of their money used was either through fundraisers, concession sales and private donations. No money has been given to them from the town it is all private. So they may be willing to rent the fields to us but as far as just using them IF they ever get completed i don't see that happening

Lb4Lb....so the money to appropriate the land was aquired through charitable events? All the construction was done from this money as well? I would have to assume that they operated as a npo and the monies that they appropriated were designated to the project.

I suppose if they can do it we could as well. If you took all the womens leagues and combined them with the mens leagues we could raise enough money to do something similar or at least upgrade the currently existing fields that we have.

Who is the director of parks and recreation in coventry now? I suppose the first step would be to start some sort of letter writing campaign and show an abundance of interest in getting some sort of support in cleaning up some of the fields at least getting the infields dragged and what not. Why not? Other towns are able to do this.

Tee signs, hats, names on balls can you imagine the publicity that you would get. Hinske promotions has a golf course we could use. Special celebrity guests none other than Mini Hinske, Richard simmons, Lance armstrong, oh and that guy from threes company! How about running a few tournaments throughout the season, maybe one before the season, one midway through and one at the end, just prior to fall ball. Take the money from the tourneys and use it towards field maintenence and clean up.

Once again, I know inmate crews are about 300.00 for an 8 man crew, a couple of days of work and many of the fields would be miraculously restored to at least decent shape.

Could also put the money back into the guys who play in the league that do this type of work for a living..Shane Martin...Mike Delpadre....Mansour...Rob Raymond...Bob Dutilly.

These guys have the own business and i am sure could use the extra money to maintain some of the fields

For my other leagues we have access to all the equipment before the games. If the town doesnt get to the fields we can use the stuff to clean it up.

Im all for tournaments, but we also need to do some things to raise money that will reach the less athletice such as badhair4badhair. Golf tournaments, texas holdem tournements, benefits at the local sponsors. These are all things that we have done in my other leagues to raise some of our own money.

We have a league board why not elect someone for field maintenance. That person can coordinate between the teams to ensure the fields are taken care of, lined, groomed, etc. I am sure there is enough money in the league i mean we only allow six balls for fall ball the extra money is there.
