Anybody who thinks the Troy/Southfield game is anything more than a tossup has not done their homework. There are some things to ponder. Both teams have beaten only two teams with .500 or better winning percentages this season. Southfield beat Farmington (35 -20) and Harrison (27 -7) this might be the weakest Harrison team in many years and will be hard pressed to make the playoffs this year. Troy beat West Bloomfield (23 -22) and Lathrup (43 – 6) who at the time was 3-3. Both teams have explosive offenses and good defenses. Here is where I see the difference. First, the Troy Special Teams featuring one of the state’s top kickers (QB/K Kevin Muma) is a huge difference maker both in scoring and field position. Second, the diversity of Troy’s offense provides a huge challenge for the Blue Jays to adjust to multiple formations and motions. Third, in general Red vs. White matchups (with the exception of any OAA team vs. Adams, this year might be the exception to the rule) favor the Red Division. Forth, the Blue Jays secured their playoff spot last week against Groves, might not be as interested as the Colt’s this week who need one more win to qualify. So with that said, my pick is Troy 24 - Southfield 21. It should be a great game to watch. Being that it is a Saturday game and that both teams are probable Play Off qualifiers lots of scouts will be present, so get there early.

They have way more speed than Troy. They lost by 2 to Adams. Harrison is still a strong team, granted not as strong as previous years. Southfield 28-17 that's my pick.

I'll tell you all again, Coach Conley will have his team fired up and ready to take down his alma mater. This game is in fact a toss up as Southfield IS WITHOUT A DOUBT the more talented team. Troy is WITHOUT A DOUBT the more disciplined team. This game should be one of the more exciting matchups this season, and can easily go either way.

Southfield's talent & home field lead them to victory.

I don't really understand how southfield is more talented. They may have the better RB, but besides that, Troy has many more defensive players (especially in the box) and is stronger on the O line. Southfield is fast, but so is Oak Park and Lathrup. This is a toss up, as are most great matchups. This game is decided by ball control. Another note, Troy only plays one or two kids both ways and only partially (WRs). I think endurance comes to play here. People, remember, Troy and southfield did meet this year. Albeit a scrimmage. Won't say who was the stronger team at the time.

Based on personal observation of both teams on multiple occasions, I feel Southfield is more talented.

I guarantee Troy was the better team in a preseason scrimmage

I am not saying Troy is a bad team by any means, just that Southfield is more talented, and I expect them to win. Will they? I dont know.

This doesn't always translate to a W on the field, thats why they play the game.

Please do not compare Southfield or even Lathrup to Oak Park, apples and oranges...

G, sorry to infer sfield is comparable to lathrup and OP. My bad. I don't think either of those teams comes close to sfield. I guess I was trying to say, speed is great, but their are other factors that need to go with speed. I feel the same as you, this game is a toss up and both teams have different strengths.
