Let me remind you how their winning streak ended at 49 games..since nobody seems to remember. A certain little portagee, his first year in the league..first game at Foster.. hit a 7th inning homerun at Foster field..13-12. Game over. As I crossed home plate Coach Ciummo said under his breath " pound for pound thats one powerful motherfckr "...hence...lb4lb

lawnman...we were lower level alright. We were 10-12 that year...finished tied for 8th. Didnt have uniforms. We were soooo lower level that I can remember us celebrating the victory...it was my first year in the league and had no idea who the Hustlers were .....and Craig Riley walked up and said to the Hustlers guys.." tell me taht you didnt just lose to that fucking team..no way..they suck.." This was before JRs was any good mind you...but, you can understand why it took me some time ( 7 years ) to warm up to Riley. Back then Considine wasnt even shaving and hit 3 hrs per year by the way... and Jen was just the cute girl in the back row of remedial math class smoking pot with Ern and JC was wishing he was Ernie...I think that is STILL happening today

Jeff - That's Lou Ciummo Sr. you're referring to. He was a great Coach - very fair and very smart!

lb4lb - I was standing there when you crossed the plate because (I believe) I was the one who served up that meatball. Oh and Lou said "Inch for Inch, he is one gay bastard".

Duffy and Dutilly - It would have been a good game and you would NOT have killed us!

What bats would be used? Aluminum single wall bats or the composite slightly altered I mean been to the Dr. for a check up bats that we use today? Back then homerun hitters would hit the homeruns, now everyone hits homeruns.

TC is right...that year the Miken wasnt even invented if I am not mistaken. Most people used Demarini double walls..however, the "Streak Ender" also know as Excalibur, was a brand new Worth EST23.....34 X 27....which was a beautiful bat back then. Ultimately it was banned by ASA . I had it until this summer when someone stole it from me during BP. I suspect Artie of course....I mean who would steal a 6 year old Worth Bat other than Uncle Fester?
