| Homestead RC Raceway is pleased to announce we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Toys For Tots Challenge again this year. This race will be on Sunday Dec. 21st. Please make plans to attend whether you race or not and bring a child appropriate toy. When this event is over the toys collected will be donated to the less fortunate kids.
I know so many of you helped out very generously last year and your efforts put a lot of big smiles and happy faces on these kids that are going through some tough times.
Homestead RC Raceway hopes all of the South Florida racers will mark this date on your calendar and enjoy a great day of racing with us and at the same time you will be helping many of the less fortunate kids.
Happy Holidays from Homestead RC Raceway.

| We are going to try a new traction mix on the track for the Toys For Tots Race this weekend. We will be using a castor oil methanal mix like what was used at Kissimmee and Ft. Myers for their most recent FORGASS races. Everyone who was there knows they both had great traction!
This will be sprayed on Saturday morning before the practice day begins so everything will remain consistent for the weekend.
Maxy, mucho gracias for the donation!

| On behalf of Homestead RC Raceway I want to thank everyone who helped make the TFT race such a success. We know some of you traveled a long way to attend this special event. Everyone present was so generous with their donations of toys for the less fortunate kids. In fact, I saw some who donated several toys. We have some of the nicest people you will ever meet, who are involved in rc car racing, your generosity was overwhelming.
The traction compound ingredients donated by Maxy’s Fuel was awesome. The cars were on rails and tire wear was reduced greatly. I have never seen so many fast laps by everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed the effort that went into making this happen.
The new monitors in the hot pits and covered pits were awesome. It was great to be able to watch the timing and scoring screen live and in color. Thank you Rino Leno for finding the program and doing all the high tech stuff to make this happen. This luxury sure makes it much nicer for all the racers, pit people and spectators. In fact plans are in place to add another monitor in the pre pit staging area in time for the upcoming ROAR Regional on January 24, 25.
The new Junior Class was a lot of fun for the kids. I saw a lot of proud moms and dads sharing some special moments with their kids. We hope we can continue to promote this class for the youngsters. It is not so much about winning , it is more about having fun and enjoying this wonderful hobby/sport. Julian Alonso age 10, Ryan Pinard age 6 and Diego Morganti age 4 were the stars of this class.
Congratulations to Andrew Duperouzzel on his 1/10 Sedan TQ and win. Maxy Velasco and Andrew had a very close final for the first half of the race with several lead changes. Then Maxy got bitten in the high speed esses and went out for many laps allowing Andrew to finish several laps ahead for the win.
The 1/8 Open Final was filled with close racing for all positions and great drama as the race came to its close. Top Qualifier, DJ Apolaro took the lead from the pole position closely followed by Danny Horta. DJ and Danny were on different fuel strategies. DJ would be making 4 fuel stops where Danny would be making one less with 3 fuel stops. Both racers were running a scorching pace with many laps in the high 11 second range. DJ maintained his lead until he would pit for fuel then Danny would take the lead, when Danny would pit for fuel DJ would take the lead. Both drivers and their pit crews were flawless and the spectators were in awe of their nerves of steel.
With about 6 minutes 30 seconds to go DJ made his 3rd stop allowing Danny to take the lead. Danny pitted with about 5 minutes 20 seconds to go allowing DJ to retake the lead. The problem for DJ was he was going to need to make one more stop for a splash and dash fuel stop.
DJ’s pit crew decided to call him in at the 4 minutes to go mark for his splash of fuel. It was a lightning quick stop but not fast enough to keep the lead. Danny now was leading by less than a second as they raced around the circuit nose to tail. This had everyone on pins and needles and cheering on their favorites.
With time expiring Danny lead DJ by 5 tenths into the short chute , then through the left hand switch back, when Danny accelerated into the high speed esses the car bogged and quit as he ran out of fuel less than 350 feet from the finish line! Oh, the agony for one driver and the thrill for the other as DJ took the checkered flag for a hard fought victory!
Once again a big thank you from Homestead RC Raceway to all of those who attended and made this a great event for yourselves and the less fortunate kids as well. Happy Holidays to everyone from Homestead RC Raceway!
